Very disappointed. This was my fiance first cruise. I wanted more elegant service like what I've had on other cruise lines. We will cruise again but not on Norwegian or a ship that is considered free style. When I pay thousands of dollars to go on a cruise, I expect quality service, not a DIY service.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
We were very disappointed to discover there were no formal dinners offered. Our first night out dining we were dressed very out of place in coat an tie and Lynne in long dress. This cruise was very casual ...do it yourself venue.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The ship had one small pool for 4k guests. It was almost impossible to get a seat on pool deck because of people placing towels on chairs very early in the morning and not using till later in the day.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
Most entertainment was in small rooms (200 chairs or less). If one did not show up very early room would be standing room only. Entertainment was so so. Similar could be seen in my home town local bars.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Most hosts and bar attendants were nice. I experienced along with many others that I visited with that help desk and excursion desk staff were not very knowledgeable.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
My biggest issue with ship was pool area. That area was full even afternoon with no seating. The pool and spa were overcrowded. The area where zip line is located could be better utilized as another adult pool area.
Cabin / Stateroom

Room service has really gone downhill since my last cruise. We made our own bed most days, towels were only changed if they were left on floor, we did most of our own cleaning in bathroom.
Ship tip
Choose another ship if you desire eligant dining, service and pool deck time. I'm thinking Norwegian ships are very casual, self service type cruises.
I would recommend Holland America Line. They offer the kinds of services you are looking for. If you do book with them upgrade to Club Orange which is available for all room classes.
A bit of research would have gone a long way. Many VLOGS and videos online to explain the style of all cruise lines. You didn’t do your research, obviously. NCL invented Freestyle cruising. If you want to dress like you’re going to a wedding, as well as expect your fellow passengers to dress the same, then you need to pay big bucks and go on a small ship/ultra luxury line like Seabourn, Oceania, Silver Seas, etc. NCL, Royal Caribbean, MSC cater to families and are more casual. As far as the pools, you don’t go on a cruise with the focus of enjoying the pool. If you want that, enjoy a land-based resort instead.
