I was told if you have iPhone keep on air plane mode and you can texting to other iPhone I was in the joy and that’s how we did it

You can activate on board messaging through the app for $9.95 per device, no WiFi subscription required. No cruise line offers cheap connection with people off the ship. You can pay for expensive calls or get WiFi.
