Fun relaxing cruise by Firstimecruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

We had a good time and had great service. Patrick was our coordinator and was very friendly and always left our room spotless. I thought the cruise directors staff had great energy. My only complain was the cruise was too crowded it was difficult to find seating in the Buffett and finding a chair to lay out by the pool. I would recommend this cruise to friends.

Our Norwegian Epic experience by tdavila

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This is our first cruise, It was wonderful, exciting and fun, fun, fun!! We were spoiled on this cruise, and it felt so good to just do nothing but sleep, shower and get served. There were so many activities on the ship itself, that even when it rained and we didn't disembarked we had fun. The ship is so clean,my husband walked around in socks in the room and his socks did not get dirty. How good is that!! We enjoyed eating in the Gardens and The Manhattan room(where Lucy our server just made every meal a pleasure).Every where we go it was wonderful. Except for Osheehans a few of the servers(women) were not to friendly, so we never went back!!! why ruin our cruise.. other than that it was all good.

Relatively new ship that looks like a large efficiently run floating hotel. by wakiwan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

This was a good cruise if you don't like days at sea. The first day was the only one we did not visit a port and some ports you had to travel over an hour by bus, train, or taxi to get to the site. I would prefer at least 2 days at sea to take advantage of all the things offered on board and to relax. Anytime dining has advantages but it also does not let you get to know your waiters and meet other passengers. I did learn never to wear a tux again on European cruises. I also felt they could have used the sports court better by offering a variety of sports on their schedule rather than just soccer. I had just come off a 15 day cruise comprised of mostly older retired passengers but we still had over 20 people who played VB almost everyday. The specialty dining places are nice but really appear just a way for the company to make more money since the dining rooms serve good food. Getting on and off the ship was excellently run every time.

Great cruise - Everything was good by Orrhouse

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Europe - Western Mediterranean

From making arrangements, to arrival at the port through the daily excursions and then final departure, everything went smoothly and the quality of ship amenities and personnel were excellent. We could have used a little more sun shine; but the fun of the trip was not diminished.

Pretty good cruise by Seabrook

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Transatlantic

It was a good cruise but not perfect. The cabin we had 10303 was too narrow and we did not like the design - much better to have a squarer cabin with a separate self contained bathroom. The food was good but not very good. All the staff were good - you should pay them more and not make tips compulsory, to enhance their pay. There were a lot of extranious noises in the balcany cabin - even in relatively calm conditions - you should have someone investigate these on a cruise. Yes I would recommend to friends. Having Bridge(card game) lectures and playing sessions was a bonus for me.

The Haven is a Heaven by MyGigi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The suites of The Haven were better than expected. And the privacy was the best part of the cruise, so relaxing. I don't know how I am going to cruise from now on, after been spoiled to the max. Did not have to wait in line, for anything. Our butlers and concierge, Jeffrey and Adrian, were superb. It was an experience never lived before, and will have to do it again. I am thinking a 2 week transatlantic. I will like for them to give the passengers more information about the usage of some items (like the cordless phone, you can be reached anywhere on board) and the benefits of being on The Haven. Also, they should change the menus every day or, at least, have more choices. I didn't even learn if they have happy hour drinks or discounts. I will recommend it and, of course, I am going back.

It speaks for itself...EPIC! by sbriley24

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was the first time I have cruise Norwegian. I abosultely loved the studios for single travelers since they do not charge a single supplement fee. So now a single person can actually take a vacation without going broke! This ship is BEAUTIFUL! It is very upscale and elegant which I loved! There were always fun things going on and never a dull moment! The entertainment was great and I absolutely loved the freestyle dining! Definitely would recommended this ship and cruise line to anyone. It also offers something for all ages so you are NEVER board!

NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY!!!! by FamilyO32384902

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Pros: -Dining Staff and Room Steward -Guest Services Staff -Food Quality Cons: -Total "frosted" glass bathroom. NO PRIVACY. Everyone can hear a bowel movement. Occupant in shower can be seen!!!! -Horrible kids programming (mine: 9 1nd 11 years old). Long, long waiting lines to sign in (even after they were registered). Very disorganized. My kids stated that they felt that they were being punished. Loved both RCL and Disney's programs! -The entire ship is constructed as if it were built in the 70's - dark brown paneling throughout, no real atrium (just a small 2-story area). -Disastrous elevator service. This ship holds 4,000 passengers - and there are NO mid-ship elevators. Long waits to go anywhere on the elevators!!!! I would NEVER recommend this ship to anyone travelling with a family. Lots of $$ spent for a "hotel" in the water, not a cruise liner.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Our trip on NCL to St. Maarten, St. Thomas, and Nassau was amazing! The ship was just out of this world. The staff and people on the ship were very friendly and everyone was nice. I would definitely do another cruise on Norweigan! I would recommend them to anyone who is thinking about a cruise. The ship the Epic, is exactly its name. It is Epic! My children loved all the things to do on this ship. The rock climbing, game room, and several pools! Wonderful experience!.

Great cruise - great ship by Queenie19355

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 12 th cruise but only our 2nd on NCL. We basically chose the line because we didn't want to dress for dinner. The cruise exceeded our expectations - everything from the room, the food, the service and especially the entertainment was great. we could not get over the quality of the entertainment on this ship. We cruise at least once a year and we are considering only cruising on NCL due to the great experience we had on the Epic.

EPIC cruise expirience by Isabella

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Didn't like "blue man show", no shows availabe to see every day, no good entertainment on a deck, poor performance of cruise director. Only good show was in circus tent, which was sold for extra payment to cruisers. Ship itself done in a very weird way, huge space, whole deck 6 occupied by casino. in order to go to main restaurant, people have to inhale heaavy smoke from cigarretes in it. there is no real rest areas for enjoyment. Small cabins, even with balconies, sink in room, were unable to get privacy in washing. No space to move inside cabin, when it's 4 people in room.

Great cruise if you like freestyle by snorkelandsun

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was nice. I prefer the big open spaces on Royal Caribbean ships. I did not like having to pass through the smokey casino to get to the dining rooms. We entered the ship in the casino and our muster station was the casino. What kind of luck is that! Yuck!!!! It was nice to have different dining choices. There were two no extra charge restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner. We ate at Le Bistro the French restaurant. It was nice but not worth the extra cost. I was not impressed with Cirque Dreams dinner show $39.99 per person. We sat at a very cramped counter in the balcony overlooking the show. The food was cold when it arrived. i did not feel it was any better show than I have seen on other smaller cruise ships. The balcony rooms on the Epic are very small. You almost have to turn sideways to walk past the bed. The only real floor space is in front of the door to the room or in front of the closet , which has you standing at the balcony door. There is no enclosed bathroom. You can sit on the bed to brush your teeth. The bed was so short neither my husband or I could stretch out. Make sure you dead bolt the door when inside. We had our cabin stewart visit us the first afternoon because someone flipped the indicator outside our room to make up room. He was literally on top of us with the bed so close to the door! This another reason set seating works. The cabin stewart has a pretty good idea when to do the turn down when he knows when you'll be gone to dinner. There were very few oppurtunities to ballroom dance. We seemed to be searching for something to do each night. The dining and entertainment flow so much better on traditional dining time cruises. There were many children on this cruise as it provides many activities for children. We avoided the Garden Cafe as much as possible because even with the employees dilligent watch that people washed hands on entering, I saw children running there hands along clean plates and spoon hands and grabbing and touch food. Also even adults put their water bottles right up to the beverage machines to fill them contaminating them. There were signs up asking them not to fill water bottles. It's no wonder they have a problem on cruise ship with outbreaks of illnesses.

Great for kids; for me, not so much by karenolas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The kids loved the water slides and the kids they met at the kids' club. I think the ship design is horrendous, and actually witnessed a fight between two passengers over a deck chair on the pool deck due to the lack of accomodations for the passengers aboard. Disembarking was a nightmare. Service was spotty.

Review of Norwegian Epic Experience by freeatlast

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The staff was friendly and helpful, especially Marlon our cabin steward. However, there were too many people, not enough lounge chairs on the sun deck. During the showing of Legends in Concert, my sister in law fell one step and a woman who was in uniform holding the reserve seats did not leave her post and just watched.. My sister in law was fine, but for good public relations she should have at least extended her courtesy and find out if she could help. One waiter did provide ice for her. The food could be better! One prime rib dinner was a disaster. The meat was soft but tasteless. The roast beef served at the buffet was better! Still it was fun.

BIGGEST NOT BEST by KENNETHPHELPS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We had heard this was the best ship? The embarkation and disembarkation was perfect. Could not been better. The staff was very good except for some language problems. This was frustrating because the worst place was at guest services desk. The cruise line seemed more interested in getting you to buy things, duty free shops, bingo cards, extra charges for dinners, excursions and even another cruise than providing information or service. To find out a lot of information that no one seemed to have I had to come home go on the internet and look though the materials Norwegian had seen me. I had to ask five times to find out where you could smoke cigars. The menus and specials of the day were not on TV, not at guest services . You either had to go to hallway at the Garden Cafe, unmarked found by accident or go to the selection of 20 places to eat. The food was very good. The specialty restaurants which required extra cash were worth the price. Cagney's was great. The 24/7 Irish Pub was quick and easy. The Manhattan Club was the best, quickest and great atmosphere, but the selection could be more varied or changed during week. The Wasabi bar was great; but I do not know about raw fish after the third day of the cruise.room service was good and prices okay. For some reason all the televisions were on ESPN and most could not be changed. Many of the movies started at 11:30 pm. The big screens in Atrium and Spice H2O area had boring mindless scenes playing over and over again. I could not understand why a travelogue of England played 20 times instead of something about the Caribbean. The room TVs had good movies, not many choices of channels. They could have had more general information on the ports, layout of the ship, and health information, what to do in emergency, medical services, what to do if have diarrhea, hand washing, and what to avoid onshore. If you have trouble with smoke, you can not avoid the casino which was filled with smokers. To get to anywhere you had to go through the casino. On the otherhand, if you are cigar smoker, Only in the cigar bar and on the bar side of Spice H2O can you smoke cigars. No cigars on balcony,Cigarettes where there ash trays and the balcony. For onshore time, the staff is not very helpful unless you buy an excursion. The ports,St. Marten and St.Thomas, good but crowded and expensive. Some people did say that the rest of what the saw outside the ports was great. We did not get to the last port because the had no room for the boat. They returned $20.00 of port fees and had one hour of free drinks. Because every thing else went with such precision, I find it difficult to believe that the cruise line did not know way ahead of time and keep it a secret. First order of business is to get oriented. Little things like even numbered cabins on the red carpet side and odd numbered cabins on the blue side. The lower number of cabin take you in direction of front of ship. The higher number of cabin take you in the direction of the back of ship. There are rare stairs/esclators in the middle of the ship. They are no bathrooms in the middle of the ship. There are small signs for bathrooms. Most of the bathrooms are by the stairs. For the balcony room, if the woman put her makeup standing up you are fine, but if sitting down is needed the other person is trapped on on side or the other. The other choice is to climb over the bed. With glass enclosed toilet and shower, if you are ashamed of your body, do not go. The glass is semi-opaque. I would not go on this boat again. We cancelled an European cruise for October because of this experience. Never for a first cruise. I would only recommend this with reservation. Basically this is a gigantic ship that you often believe is a hotel instead of a boat.

Epic Fail by Epicfail

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Epic / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Well lets start with the ship never made it to Nassau. The captin made an announcement that the ship did not have a slip because there was a scheduling problem. All of the children on the ship were so upset about missing The Atlantis. We were given no money back and the company answer was that they did not care. Please do not put your family on this over crowed ship that does not have enough chairs. At 7:30 in the morning all chairs on the sun decks are gone. I hope you like warm not hot food. All of the food on the ship seems to be lacking heating. Let's not forget one night my child did not get food at all but was offered a bottle of wine for the mix up. The problem is we do not serve our 15 year old alcohol.
