Review summary

We cruise 3-4 times per year The Epic was the filthiest NCL ship I have ever been on. The banisters were so dirty I used a hand sanitizer every time I came off the steps. The windows, and the balcony were disgusting. The room set up was awful, there was no real bathroom... and on and on and on

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Lines everywhere, it became such a joke that on day 2 I started timing my standing in lines - 8 HOURS for the cruise

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
very limited and the timing was poor as most dinners made it impossible to enjoy the meal and the see a show. Also very limited entertainment.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
They try but impossible to succeed on this ship

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
should be renamed the NCL Epic Rust was supposedly refurbed in 2020 but needs some serious TLC

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
The cabin layout is terrible as many other cruisers have commented on. Balcony? - plenty of rust to make sitting out on the balcony rather unpleasant

Ship tip

If you like Lines EVERYWHERE it's for you .... other lines offer greater value

We just recently went on the Epic, and were disappointed in the ship and NCL itself. There is too much wasted space on Epic and not enough places for people to go or sit down. People were scavenging for chairs everywhere we went. There were long lines for everything, especially the bars. We are suspicious that NCL is doing that, causing that, on purpose. We heard several people saying they wouldn't stand in a 20-30 minute line just for a drink. There were 50 crew available bussing tables, but saw only 2 that would take drink orders. We asked a crew member in the pool area if he or anyone could get us drinks, and he said they were told not to. Also, you can give us an alcoholic drink up to $15, but you can't give us a 20 cent bottle of water or a 50 cent can of soda?? Now why is that?? NCL was constantly bombarding our inbox with upgrade offers to pay more, BUT they keep you from actually getting any use or value out of what you've spent to get on the ship, even with "free at sea". Trying to prop up their low stock prices I guess. Never again on NCL. Seems to be a rip off to us.

Interesting another post from your same cruise just commented on how clean the ship was.

I cruised on the Epic and didn't experience any of your issues, except odd bathroom set up in cabins. There is going to be lines, since there is over 4000 passengers on the ship, so yes, you will be standing in line. If standing in line isn't your thing, then maybe cruising isn't for you. Also, if you spent your cruise standing in line and timing it, you missed out on your cruuse over a petty issue. Also, you're in a salt water environment, do what did you expect was going to happen to the windows. The crew just can't wash them everyday to please you.

Well, as far as the banisters... hundreds of people touching them, you should be washing your hands whether you see filth or not... windows and balconies get dirty quickly with the salty air... add a storm(which has been often this winter) and bam... they're dirty... they only do windows and balconies on certain days... they couldn't possibly do them everyday and maintain the ship.
