Relaxing
Seas a Bit Rough
Would do a Trans Atlantic Again!
Embarkation
3 out of 5
long check in lines with little communication (1st time crusing with Norweigen)
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Main dining rooms were decent, specialty restaurants excellent, buffets decent.
Small minor things that made the main dining rooms feel below par and not as elegant as prior cruise experiences, for example lack of dress code at dinner, butter in individual packets displayed in a silver butter dish (tacky).
The main dining room did have live music and a dance floor, very nice touch.
We had the full drink package - EXCELLENT
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Due to weather crossing the Atlantic, most if not all outdoor activities were cancelled, I believe the slide and rock wall and main pools were open once over the 9 days.
Indoor activities were consistently the same and usually had an up charge (Bingo, deal or no deal, tastings) A lot of dance classes, art auctions, selling future cruises, selling jewelry etc.... The cruise director(s) and assistance cruise director(s) were very busy and I really did not give you the time of day if you had a question / suggestion. Found them to be rude and extremely hard to understand, very condescending to the crowd when participation was not to their liking.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Stage shows EXCELLENT... comedy and illusionist not so great.
Had to juggle shows due to weather and safety.
Found out mid trip that a particular music group that performed in one of the lounges was a progression of years and not the same show each time. SO missed out on a some good music. - total lack of communication by the cruise director(s)
after hour parties OK found cruise staff rather dance with themselves then the guest.
Children's Programs
We are kids at heart, but had none with us
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Dining staff - hardest working group all around!!!!!!!
Room steward - not impressed at all
"Front Desk" - Absolutely useless, we had a major complaint and was told someone would get back to us, and NO ONE did. RUDE and unwilling to help out our situation. Felt like a 3rd class citizen, no impressed with cruise line and how they treated their customers.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
VERY OLD, OUTDATED ship the "EPIC"
Cabin was in MAJOR need of repairs and upgrades and a really good cleaning and electrical work.
Probably the most disgusting, old, outdated cabin, duck taped cabin I have ever been in.
My Mini club suite was worse than a Motel room in the middle of the desert in the middle of no where, not worth the money spent and "Front Desk" could care less.
Note the ship was at half capacity and NOTHING could be done!
Did not like the casino in the middle of the ship as you constantly heard the bells ringing or had to walk thru the casino to get from one end to the other....but if you look at the new ship they are different.
Found that the area were "surfaced" cleaned regularly but floors and wall not so much
Room lay very cramped, but lots of ODD storage areas.

The one electrically outlet for our devices was hanging out the wall (never saw the electrician the front desk said they would send - the steward ended pushing back into the wall.) I must say that the duck tape was a real bonus, I guess that is what one gets with an upgrade !
The room should have NEVER been sold, should have been marked as last resort to use, I guess we were the last suckers to get it!
Could not wait to leave the room every day!
Ship tip
As a first cruiser, do not expect alot. Splurge and get the speciality dinning, it is fun. Do like the dining anytime feature, but NOTE the ship was at half capacity so getting in to dining was easy, with a full ship, I suggest booking dining reservation well ahead of time.
The only two ports of call were CANCELLED, so no excursions for us off the boat. The only excursions was had were to find the theaters and dining rooms.
