Review summary

Great itinerary, needed vacation after 2 years of burnout and isolation. Appreciate NCLs 100% Vaccination policy--more of industry should do this, including airlines.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
First time for NCL at San Juan I guess, plus COVID testing. They did pretty well, all considered, but it took a long time, and lacked some of the festivity.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Other than one mediocre main dining room dinner, and some blah burgers at the O'Sheehan's pub, everything was excellent. Le Bistro was the best. The cocktails were good--too good. Ate all breakfasts at buffet and never had a bad one.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
This would be higher if Epic had better outdoor space for walking/jogging/promenading. They devote an awful lot of space to getting revenue--casino, shops, photo and art.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
NCL really shines here, and this was no exception--from poolside bands, to solo piano bar performers, to the Broadway-quality staging of "Priscilla Queen of the Desert", everything was top notch.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Always accommodating, never disappointing.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
5 star cleanliness, but 1 star for layout--as said above, really dislike the lack of a promenade deck and open walking track. All movement fore-to-aft on public decks has to pass through casino, and that can be congested. Plus, if you find casinos distasteful, it gets annoying.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Great for 2--a bit narrow, could use more space to hang damp suits, etc. Given the shortage of outdoor public space on this ship, I'd never sail on her without a balcony.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

5 out of 5
We love San Juan, and having the cruise sail from here was a major reason to book it. That said, SJU is a horrible airport for visitors. We were fortunate to not be stuck here on departure day as many others were.

Oranjestad, Aruba

4 out of 5
Found nice beach in walking distance, did late excursion (Sunset Sail) thru NCL.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Very walkable town. That's all we did.

St. George's, Grenada Did not visit port

Ship skipped port due to change in COVID rules on shore. Enjoyed an extra sea day!

Castries, St. Lucia

5 out of 5
Did a land and sea bus/sailing tour. Sailing part was phenomenal. The island is lovely, but too much time in bus, and lots of winding mountain roads!

Basseterre, St. Kitts

5 out of 5
Sailed to Nevis on excursion for snorkeling and beach time. 10/10 would recommend!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Some congestion due to terminal problems, not NCL's fault.
