Review summary

Worst cruise trip of my life. I am a fan of cruises with more than 20 on different lines. I will give my detailed experience so that you can make a weighted decision on this ship. On Dec 15 2019, I took a trip on the Norweigan Epic through the Caribbean. I was very excited even though I had read several negative reviews but did not believe that the experience could be so bad. (THE CABIN) What we know by bathroom is in different parts of the cabin (shower, vanity sink and water closet) so it is extremely uncomfortable without privacy when you want to have privacy. For example if you used the toilet you have to go out and use the sink that is in the middle in the cabin and the smell is not pleasant. When using the shower, you have to go out into the hallway to finish drying and putting on clothes. The lighting is extremely poor inside the cabin. (LIFTS) This boat has 8 lifts at the front and 8 in the rear and not distributed in different areas of the boat this causes in peak hours to take up to 10 minutes or more to be able to take the elevator. The architect who designed the cab and the position of the elevators do not consider the drawbacks of its design to guests that should be their priority. (SERVICE AND QUALITY MEALS) The buffet meals were always the same and there was no significant variety in the 7 days and in the 2 restaurants were very simple meals and not the quality I am used to on other cruises. The service at the buffet and restaurant was lousy. In the buffet the tables were always dirty and were slow to clean. The employees didn't give you good morning or good afternoon and no cordiality. My 1st time on NCL, Epic Jan. 16 for 10 days. 90% of reviews for this ship are so negative. It's so nice to read it's up to the individual what to make of it. I'm going in with a positive attitude. It's got to be better than a few cruise lines I will not name lol Fingers crossed 🤞

We were on the epic dec 22-29, 2019 out of San Juan. This was our 2nd time on Epic so knew the what we were getting with the bathroom situation and the ship. Was worried about embarking as I had read that the cruise prior had people waiting for hours in the hot sun to embark, but we were on the ship within 20 minutes after our cab dropped us off. Room was ready and we were totally unpacked by 2:45pm. What we weren’t expecting was the absolute non existent customer service from 99% of the crew. Everyone seemed very unhappy. Bartenders seemed put out when we ordered a simple mixed drink ( not just one bartender but all of them at all the different bars). Service in the dining rooms was slower than molasses......would get sat promptly but then would wait and wait and wait for waiter to take our drink order, and then wait and wait and wait for our food order etc.....no one was smiling, it was unlike any other cruise we’ve been on. The only saving grace was that the entertainment was fabulous! Priscilla and burn the floor were awesome! The comedians were super funny and dueling pianos were super engaging. While we had a good time we will probably not be sailing NCL again if this any indication of how the customer service will be.

I agree with walillo. I would use the bathroom and have to wash my hands in the sink which was right next to my daughters head because she was sleeping on the couch. Couldn't enter or exit the room when using the shower. I will never sail on the Epic again.

We have sailed on the Epic 2 times and loved it both times. We did the Eastern Caribbean bot times with a bit of a different in 2011 and 2019. Sure the bathroom is awkward with the sink outside but we were only in our cabin to shower, get dressed and sleep. We enjoyed 3 of the optional dining experiences both cruises and loved the food in those venues and all of the others as well. Our Room Steward on both cruises were outstanding as were many, if not all of the staff we encountered. I’m sorry you didn’t have a good experience and hope you do on your next cruise.

We’re fans of the Epic too... The cabin layout is no big deal to long-standing partners, obviously more of a issue for two friends... Never known a problem with elevators, and hardly ever use the buffet so can’t really comment on the dull menu... Best thing about the Epic for us was always the entertainment, especially the Rock music venue...

I was on this ship twice and never found any of this to be such a big deal. We love the Epic. Beautiful, good entertainment, good food, nice spots on board. I dont agree at all. But everyone is welcome to their opinion.
