Worth the time and money to do this one.
got to see the wonderful old world of Europe and a very fun cruise. you could sit and relax or do every show and attraction. both options work.
food was very good and lines short.
I do not think the ship was full ( Mid Oct is great time to travel) so that may have helped?
book the shows early if you can. we were able to see most but missed a few since they were booked.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
very easy to get on the ship. fast and efficient check in. easy to get a drink or snack and hit pools and hot tubs.
just one word of advice. boarding point is a long distance from street so worth the taxi ride directly to boat and the tip to have your bags picked up at taxi. skipped the line to check bags and they handled from taxi to the room.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
fantastic choices for where and when to eat.
did not do specialty dinning since so many good choices without.
can even do a sit down 24 hours in one place.
quality was very good.
servers were friendly and helpful.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
slides were good but hot tubs were under repair much of the time so some days we only had a few (2 out of 7) or none open one day.
short lines for rock wall.
would like to see newer balls on B Ball and soccer court.
fitness center was fantastic. lots of equipment in excellent shape.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
loved the shows!
Epic Beatles and Siglo were fantastic in the Cavern Club.
lots if variety for everyone.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
mostly very good but bar service a little slow at times but not that bad.
very good service around pool.
room attendant was excellent.
wait staff in restaurants were great. friendly and helpful even for special request.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
just a cool looking ship and deck.
bathroom and deck were always kept very clean.
this is very important on a ship with over 5000 people on it!
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
not as big as on some other ships and you need to accept the bathroom layout but it was not a bad as i had expected.
bathroom and shower have frosted glass so pretty open to room but there is a curtain between them and rest of room.
fine for a married couple but could be a little strange for just casual friends traveling together.
more privacy may be desired.
room was very well kept and clean.
some how the attendant was always nearby to clean it whenever we went out. don't think he slept!
Ship tip
cabins a little smaller then others but not in in very long so just get out and enjoy the lots to see and do and you will be fine.
spent 4 days in Barcelona. love the Spanish people and food.
lots of protest going on and they were fine. very peacful and we were right in the middle of them.
spend at least 3 days to see all the sights and a 4th to enjoy the beaches!
Amalfi coast was beautiful and Pompeii was fasinating.
did not get into Naples since tour took all day.
easy on and off ship so you could just go to Naples if you like.
Rome is about 1 1/2 hours away to this takes a lot of your time. Rome is beautiful and we did a private car so get to see most of it but this is an expensive way to go. ( almost $700 between the 4 of us) we did get to see the Pope and got dropped off right at the door for most places.
i heard others took trains to city and cabed it locally. do research on options before you go.
Pisa and Florence are not close to port. Livorno is small but very pretty. easy to take train to Pisa and Florence but need to get off boat early to cartch shuttle to train station.
a 30 min walk to Tower from train station. if you take train to Florence make sure to take last stop. 1st stop in Florence is NOT the right one. (Hint on which one we took)
cost was very afortable for trains.
book a ride (tender) from ship to shore day before. very nice little city to see but not much to do. mostly walk around the shopsand hotels. we did the little Thomas the Train tram around town and saw pretty much everything in less than an hour. well worht it.
some beaches right where you get off tender so bring sandles and a towel so you can dip toes in Mediterranean before getting back on ship!
a nice city and worth the suttle to center city but not anyhting special. still worth the time and cost to see the very nice architecture of this part of France.
time to see the city and still be back on ship to enjoy pool time.
time to have breakfast before you leave.
lines were short to get off but long for cab.
still not that bad since they are right where you get off. you do not need to travel far with your luggage.
