Review summary

Im not a drinker/partier/gambler so this ship did not appeal to me as much. If you like to relax and do some trivia, take in some shows, Id suggest a Royal Caribbean cruise. Im blessed that I had this experience and the amazing sites I was able to see. But it is definitely only a one time deal for me.

Embarkation

Smooth sailing! Hardly any line.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Specialty restaurants were fabulous! Food was amazing, to say the least! Main dining had great food as well. Some days were a little slow, but cant complain.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
We did not utilize any of the activities. The rock climbing wall looked interesting though. The slide looked like a lot of fun as well. We tried doing the mini-golf, but never saw any golf clubs or golf balls. Hardly any trivia that piqued our interested. Very disappointing.

Entertainment

Did not attend any shows or nightclubs/dance parties.

Children's Programs

Did not utilize children's programs.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We had no issues with any of the staff. Everyone was pleasant. Some went that extra mile to try and make my son smile.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship's layout did not appeal to me. I did not like the closed layout. There was no large open area that you can look up a couple floors. Design/decorations were decent.

Cabin / Stateroom

Room was nice. The couch was a bit uncomfortable.

Ship tip

Seems as if the Norwegian Epic caters to more party/drinker/gambler type.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

We did not get to tour this town as we just drive through to get to and from the port. It did look like a quaint little town though, with lots of shopping. It is a hike to get to the town from the port though.

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

Again, it is a long trek to get to any town from this port. We visited the city of Lucca and Pisa while in port. Nice drive. Beautiful towns with great shopping.

Cannes, France

Such a beautiful town. Lots of restaurants and shopping near the port. We took the Petit train tour and they took us to a castle overlooking the town. Breathtaking view!

Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands

5 out of 5
Lovely town. We took the sightseeing "hop on hop off" bus all around town. Even though we didn't get off the bus until we went in a full circle, it was a 2 hour drive or so. It was worth it, nonetheless.

Barcelona, Spain

3 out of 5
It was raining in Barcelona when we arrived so we did not get to see its full beauty. We also were unable to sightsee to much, as there were "peaceful" protests going on in Barcelona at the same time.

Naples, Italy

2 out of 5
Naples was definitely not anything I was expecting. It looked run down and dilapidated. They were doing major construction on the roadways near the port, so there was lots of traffic. We took the Sita bus to Pompeii. We didn't get to sightsee too much in Pompeii, but it was an awesome feeling being in a place with so much history!

Disembarkation

Again, no lines. A simple walk off the ship. We found our bags immediately.
