This was our first cruise and it most certainly won't be our last, we loved everything about it and honestly haven't got one bad thing to say about the Epic or its staff. I can't wait to do it all again.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embankment was so quick and easy, arrived in port around 10:45 and were on the ship and eating lunch by 11:45.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The food on board is excellent, so much choice you could never get through everything in 7 days. We ate in one of the main complementary dining room, The Manhatten Room, and it was excellent, food was delicious and waiting staff superb. We also ate in Cagneys, La Cucina and went to Cirque Dreams, all were excellent except La Cucina which we were very disappointed in, food was bland and we didn't get that lovely friendly welcome we got everywhere else on the ship. We also ate in The Garden Cafe, the standard and choice of food was excellent and every day was different.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
There s plenty to do onboard whether it be watching a show, going to the theatre, watching the comedian/magician, taking part in dance classes or game shows.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment on board is to a very high standard, we saw Priscilla Queen of the desert, which is excellent. We also took part in Deal or no Deal, salsa dance classes and went to see howl to the moon, The Epic Beatles and Siglo, we also enjoyed the nightly party in Spice H2O. We went to Cirque Dreams which is a must! The skill of these performers is something to see!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone is so friendly, from the minute you embark to the minute you disembark. Always a good morning, good evening and a smile. The only place we didn't find this was in La Cucina where the woman was more interested in her phone call and we had to stand for a good 5 minutes and more waiting for her to finish her call which wasn't a good start to our experience in that particular restaurant. The 'washy, washy' girls are lovely, always 'happy, happy' and 'smiley, smiley'. Our room steward, Wharlito, was a lovely guy who would have done anything for us. I can't praise the staff on the Epic enough.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The ship layout was fine for us, easy to find everything and if our get lost there are signs beside the lifts telling you what deck your on and where everything is. The ship is always clean, never found a dirty toilet once. In the Garden Cafe there is an army of people constantly clearing and wiping tables.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This was a beautiful balcony cabin, plenty of room for the two of us with a good sized uncovered balcony. Our room steward cleaned our room twice a day and in the evening we would come back to a different towel animal every night!
Ship tip
Just enjoy it! This is a beautiful modern ship with friendly, helpful staff, excellent food and drink and excellent entertainment. If you go to ' the great outdoors' buffet you will see two glass lifts, one is for Haven guests only but the other is for everyone, take it up to deck 18 and there is a lovely quiet sun deck up there with comfy loungers, nice and peaceful if you want away from the hassle and bustle of the main pool deck.
Naples itself is very poor, well the bit we were taken round anyway, we were on a bus and that was enough for us, it wasn't somewhere we would have wanted to wander around ourselves. On the same tour we went to Pompeii, this is a sight to see and worth while going to!
We have been to Rome twice before so didn't do a trip into Rome itself, we wandered round Civtavecchia but to be honest there wasn't much to see so we went back in the ship and enjoyed it while is was a bit quieter.
We didn't do a organised tour in Palma we got the shuttle bus into Palma and visited the cathedral and walked around a lovely wee market that was there, it's a lovely place to go and see.
We chose easy walk off disembarkment due to the time of our flight home, it was so easy! From leaving our room to being in the port building took no more than 5 minutes.
Have you tried other Norwegian ships, if so what ones? We are trying to think for next year but are a bit scared that it won't live up to the experience we had on the Epic.
