Review summary

Super itinerary. Only one day at sea. Be prepared to spend much of your time off of the ship and doing a significant amount of sightseeing Food good, not outstanding. Great sized cabins.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Embarkation in LeHavre was horrible. Access to cruise terminal from Paris and finding terminal once arriving in LeHavre. Stood outside since they do not have an adequate reception area. Total disaster

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food overall was good. Nothing superb. Buffet was crowded , limited and not appealing. We avoided it as much as possible. Main dining room was nice , slow service at breakfast , smaller dining room, Aqua , more desirable and quieter for dinner. Menus were more limited than we expected. Salmon never available for dinner. Dining rooms never open for lunch. Specialty restaurants were variable. Italian LaCucina disappointing, no ambience, noisy , fair food. Bamboo Asian was inedible ; French was nice with great ambience and service,; Cagneys Steakhouse great; Mexican very good surprisingly and Moderno Brazilian fair. Salad bar not well stocked and meat was mediocre.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Nice variety of performers including magician, aerialists, comedian, Irish musician/comedian. Small venues with decent variety of musical performers. Nightclub was too crowded with inadequate size dance floor.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Overall, service was very good from room Stewards, waiters, and maitre-Ds. Customer service front desk personal were overall not helpful and unfriendly. Internet, café manager was extremely nice and helpful.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship had been recently refurbished size of ship was very manageable. In some cases, the layout of the floorplan was difficult to navigate.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin size was much larger than we expected, and was quite pleasant with full size bath/shower combination. Wish there were electrical outlets that accommodated US devices/plugs, as well as USB ports. Wish outlets were available next to bed on both sides

Ship tip

Be prepared to pay for unexpected shuttles into most ports, not provided by NCL. Also we chose all of our excursions from sites other than NCL. Significantly less costly , sometimes from identical outside 3rdvoarties , and in some cases superior to those offered by NCL.

Ports of call

Le Havre (Paris), France

1 out of 5
Nobody including police seemed to know where cruise terminal was located , even when speaking to them in French. NCL could have had representatives in train station after traveling from France to provide assistance , and at the very least printed directions how to get to cruise terminal from train station, especially considering that there were easily hundreds of cruise guests on the train from Paris to LeHavre. Shameful!

Zeebrugge (Bruges), Belgium

5 out of 5
The port itself was horrible and necessitated payment for a shuttle to town. Brugge was one of our favorite cities. Charming medieval walled city with canals and beautiful architecture.

Tilbury (London), England

5 out of 5
Tilbury port also required transfer or train to reach London. Loved our tour of the south bank of the Thames.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

5 out of 5
Great city. Fabulous architecture. Picturesque Highlight was visiting Anne Frank’s home and museum, which requires pre booking 6 weeks in advance online.

Copenhagen, Denmark

5 out of 5
Required paid shuttle to transport into town great tours.

Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany

3 out of 5
Only way to visit Berlin requires train or pre arranged tour. The major problem is transportation is approximately 3 hours each way , leaving little time actually in Berlin. We chose a tour that included a 90 min visit to Sachsenhausen concentration camp prior to visiting the city of Berlin. It’s a MUST!

Karlskrona, Sweden

4 out of 5
Peaceful relaxing day , walked around. Not much to see , but enjoyable to have a “down” day. We had to use tenders to reach port.

Visby, Sweden

4 out of 5
Pretty city with intact medieval walls Beautiful botanical gardens. Also more of a relaxing non rushed visit.

Riga, Latvia

4 out of 5
Terrible paid bus shuttle from NCL to town. No representatives after being dropped off in city. Driver spoke no English and couldn’t provide directions, maps, answer if pick up was in same location or how frequently shuttle ran. Interesting city however. NCL should have helped provide appropriate orientation and transportation.

Tallinn, Estonia

5 out of 5
A favorite! Excellent guided bus/walking tour.

Helsinki, Finland

5 out of 5
Excellent walking tour. Don’t miss the national library. You’ll be AMAZED!

Stockholm, Sweden

5 out of 5
Loved this city. Old town walking tour is a must. We also took a canal/archipelago boat cruise that was beautiful way to see the city from a different vantage point as well as see country villages.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
It was a breeze if you are able to carry off your own luggage
