Review summary

We spent a week cruising the eastern Caribbean on the Norweigan Dawn. The balcony room was perfect with ample room for 2 people. The cabin stewards were attentive to all of our needs as well as the rest of the staff. Although the ship is a bit dated, it was clean and met our standards. The dining was excellent; our favorite was Impressions which had the same menu as the main dining room. We made reservations at Cagney's steakhouse without a problem but found it no better than the regular dining, I wouldn't recommend spending the additional money. We especially liked the freestyle cruising. We spent a very enjoyable day at the spa, I received a hot stone massage while my husband used the hydrotherapy pool and steam room. We enjoyed the entertainment onboard, from the Big Band music in the Spinnaker lounge to the Bollywood production at the theatre. I highly recommnend this cruise.

Ports of call

Philipsburg, St. Maarten

The atmosphere was friendly, the shopping was fantastic, and the variety between the Dutch and French side made it that much more interesting

San Juan, Puerto Rico

It felt unsafe to be at the port. The police has bulletproof vest on, many of the shops were vacant, there was "tagging" on many of the walls near the forts. We were very disappointed (although the architecture is beautiful).

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

Unless you snorkeled past the man made reef, there wasn't many fish to see. Not very good for novices or families.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

The most beautiful beach (Coki Beach).
