Review summary

Great trip. Had a great time exploring new location and meeting new people. Would do it again.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
The staff did what they could but the ship had to be inspected by the US Customs and it took a long time. We was in line only a few people away when they stopped all check ins. We waited for nearly 2 hours until they started back. Communication was very poor. It’s not all NCLs fault but they could have made it easier than it was.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We really liked the 3 main dining rooms for dinner. The staff was always friendly. The buffet was good. They had so much to choose from. Some of the people was rude and cut in and out of lines, so just be patient. You are on vacation. We did not visit any of the specialty restaurants so we have no review on them. The Irish pub and the Asian restaurant was great also.

Shanghai's Noodle Bar

You will order to much your first time eating here. The food was great. We ate here 3 time and loved it every time.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
There was things to do just the areas they did them in was small and always had people having to stand. The pool was great. It was over 6 ft deep. There was 6 water slides and was a lot of fun. Lines was very short on this cruise. The out side chairs would be taken pretty quick so if you wanted one you would need to get there early. We saw a guy putting towels on 6 chairs at 7 in the morning and he was the only one there at that time. So best of luck. The fitness center was nice just the right number of equipment.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The main show was great but did not like having to get reservations to go. It caused a lot of confusion to know what line to get in. The shows and performers did a great job.

Children's Programs

4 out of 5
Our son had a great time but he said the staff just sat there with the other staff and played games with each other. Plus the teen club was closed a lot of the time. But it is a safe place for them to hang out to meet other teens.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The staff did a great job. My 4 stars is because they need more staff. Our Housekeeper had 28 rooms by himself and before Covid he had 14 room and a helper. He said if they complain or they get too many complaints they are let go. He also said there pay is the same as before. He liked doing all the extras but just does not have the time. All staff was friendly and helpful.

Ship Quality

I liked the layout. It was easy to get around.

Cabin / Stateroom

The room was great but the closet space. A little small. Great location very quiet would stay in this room again.

Ship tip

At most of the ports we was able to get tours for about $20 to $30 each going to the same place the ones the ship charges over $100 for. So be patient and find your deals.

Ports of call

Colon, Panama

Save money and get a taxi right out side of the port and see the Panama Canal. It was about $20 each and another $10 each to get in to the canal visitors center. You will see so much on the drive there and back.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

5 out of 5
We took a driving and boat tour for $35 each and saw so much. There was only 3 of us in a cab. The driver took us to some great sights throughout the town and we did a small boat tour of the jungle. Great time.

New York, New York

The city has so much to see. Come early and explore before you board the ship

New Orleans, Louisiana

The 1 star is not for New Orleans. New Orleans is great so much to do. The one star is the port set up and so disorganized. It is a mad house. Sadly this port was the worst part of the whole trip.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
The is a lot to do with in walking distance. Safe your money and explore

Oranjestad, Aruba

4 out of 5
Don’t do what we did and try to walk to the beach. The is one close but very murky. Get a taxi and explore. Not much close to port.

Willemstad, Curacao

5 out of 5
Great place to walk around. Once you cross the bridge the is driving tours for about $30 each. So much color.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Great scuba and snorkel shop to the right after you get off the ship. For about $25 to snorkel in a market off area at the shop. Lots of fish to see. You also have a great view of the ship from the shop.

Disembarkation

Not organized at all. Once we got off the ship it was a mad house. We was in a line to get a taxi for over two hours. People from the back of line would get out of line and go to the front and cut everyone off. No staff helped keep it organized. The only staff would come every so often and ask if the was anyone trying to get on the ship to go with them sadly there was. Next time once I get off the ship in New Orleans I will get away from the port the get an Uber. It was getting so bad with the cutting a few people almost got in to fights.
