As first time cruisers, was an awesome experience.
Embarkation

When we left a critical document in our checked luggage, they worked tirelessly with us to find it, and even gave us our boarding group based on when we’d first arrived, not factoring in the delay getting the document. Super helpful, super friendly check-in staff.

Service and Staff

We were pretty happy being our first cruise. But I can certainly see stark differences between some staff that take pride in their job, and others just waiting for it to be over.
We got no special treatment or even recognized for having a birthday on board. We never once got a nice towel animal on the bed.
Again, first cruise, so maybe NCL just don’t do those things. Perhaps you only get that level of service from other lines.

It’s a much smaller room than I expected based on family and friends that cruise regularly. Suitcase couldn’t get between bed and tv cabinet. And the bed was so close to the cupboard there was barely enough room to stand beside the bed while accessing clothing.
The balcony was also very small compared to stories I’d heard.
We loved our room for a first cruise, but certainly much smaller than the competition
Ship tip
Book specialty restaurants early. If it’s fully booked, they WILL NOT create a waiting list for cancellations. You have to check every 15 minutes. And you have no priority for waiting for so long for an opening if someone else asks first in that 15-minute slot. Even if they just arrived. It’s a really terrible system. So book as early as you can
The process was fine, but few people were there to help guide once off the ship. Our luggage was in a separate room, took ages to find. Then struggled to find the bus to the correct airport. Again, no signage and few staff to direct.
As a frequent cruiser on NCL I must let you know they stopped doing towel animals except on request. NCL has a birthday package that is available for Bout 35 dollars, I believe. I will be on the Breakaway myself soon.
