I don't think we are "cruise people". I've been on a couple before, and I don't remember them being this off-putting. It's not likely I will ever cruise again. If so, it will not be Norwegian. I would get a cabin with a balcony again.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining

Buffet was ok --- breakfast got boring pretty quickly. And, the only specialty restaurant we LOVED was Le Bistro, the Brazilian steakhouse and Cagney's were just OK. Oh, Shanghai's Noodle bar was also very good, but extremely limited menu. All in all, I would NOT book this cruise again for the food.
Onboard Activities

We had the spa package ---- totally worth it to get away from the chaos of the pool areas. Also, seriously --- one main pool. Totally stupid. Really, it's a joke. Get another pool.
Entertainment

Burn the floor was ok, but we LOVED Rock of Ages... very crude, but totally up our alley! The Escape the Big Top was weird, confusing, and too difficulty.

3 out of 5 seemed content/happy... 2 out of 5 were miserable/rude/unhappy.

Big ship, easy to find quiet places.
Cabin / Stateroom

Would NOT book this room again. You could hear deck chairs above (at the pool?) starting to get moved around as early as 5am. The door was also across from where they bring luggage off and on the floor. No thanks. Cabin was clean, and we loved having a balcony. Size was just fine for two people, and the bathroom was very large for a cruise ship, with lots of storage.
Hop on Hop off at the end of the cruise. Terrible. We got off the ship super early (not needed), and we were held hostage for like 2 hours. I needed food, water, and a bathroom waaay sooner than one was available. Also, it was super confusing to get off the ship with a general crowd of people --- also, they do not tell you the Miami and Ft Lauderdale people will all be on the same bus. Wayyyyyy tooo confusing. Almost like they do it on purpose. I asked at least three different people with Norwegian about how/where/what was going to happen with our luggage while on the bus, and I NEVER got a straight answer. We tried not to be paranoid about it, but we were --- we didn't know until the tour was done. We got our luggage, but did NOT know they procedure ahead of time. Booooo!
We did the Jolly Roger snorkel, and that was GREAT! Fun times, and quite a bit to see in the water. Great crew. Highlight of our cruise. Didn't visit the port, but just looked like it had everything (stupid, tacky) like all the other ports.
Tacky. Commercial. High priced. We did a snorkel. Nothing to see (vs. Roatan). Not worth it. You cannot say you've actually been to Belize if you go to this port.
Hated it. Our kayak excursion was cancelled day-of, so we got talked into a tacky 'all inclusive' beach experience. Terrible. Felt trapped, and all that was a the port was (again --- like Harvest Caye) tacky, commercial, high-priced tourist trap stuff. Nope.
Just fine. Also tacky --- lots of hustle on the street. There is a BIG grocery store near the port, so I wish this was the first (rather than the last) stop. We took the ferry to Playa Del Carmen to hit a couple spots we'd been to before. If you love mezcal, take the ferry over and grab a cab to La Perla (restaurant/bar).
Fine. We were part of tour in Miami. It was REALLY difficult to know if you were actually with your tour group because they were also letting other people off at the same time. None of us had any idea where we were going.
Sorry you had such a bad experience... I’ve been in the Breakaway twice... 1st time I was a little overwhelmed with the size of her. But by the last few days after exploring more... we enjoyed it! NCL and Royal are our favorite Lines. “IF” you do decide to give another try... do your homework on the layout of the ships... watching other people’s vacation videos on YouTube.. or Pictures on here or Instagram tell you and show better of what ships and ports are like. This way you base where you go and who you with on that. A lot of people love Carnival... that’s the last line we would contemplate.. but that’s just us. We’ve never been to the Mexican ports.. and really have no desire to based on what we’ve seen. But investigate good!
With so much to do, eat, see, experience, explore and enjoy I am amazed that anyone would give a completely bad rating! Why even go in the first place? It sounds like it was doomed before the cruise even started! I was on the same cruise and thought the staff was awesome, food was good and entertainment was great!
