Chose this cruise as it was holiday period in US and land hotels were so expensive. First time on breakaway but are platinum ncl cruises. We are tiring of ncl. Cost cutting everywhere and penny pinching. Fake tax on drinks in US waters, no other cruise line does this on drinks packages. Staff were not friendly and had failed another US inspection. Rock of Ages was terrible, people walked out. Burn the Floor excellent. Loved the outdoor diming and bar concept. Specialty restaurants are not good enough quality for extra money. Uninspiring itinerary.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Why did NCL need our ESTA when it was a closed loop cruise and we just got off a similar HAL cruise that didn’t.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Italian was disappointing. Cagneys was great. The Manhattan restaurant was excellent. Osheehans was disappointing compared to other ships. Drinks taxes are a joke, no other cruise line does this.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
Normally ncl strongpoint but a lot of the activities have stagnated and lack enthusiasm. Prizes have dwindled. Shuffleboard was in a bad state. Pool slides were good but terrifying.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Entertainment required booking and the staff were so rude but thankfully comped is the wine tasting show which was fun. Magician was excellent. Rock of Ages terrible. Burn the floor excellent. New rock pub was fun and the piano players were entertaining
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The ship failed its US inspection and staff morale was visibly low.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Like the promenade deck with outdoor bars and dining. More windows than Epic opened the ship up. H20 is so dirty. Too much smoke from Casino
Cabin / Stateroom

Our first balcony on ncl. Quite comfortable but shower pressure was terrible. Tv poor. Balcony a bit small.
Carnival and Royal Caribbean also charge tax in Ports for drinks. It is a US and country charge not a cruise line charge. I was on Carnival in June and we were charged tax on drinks when we were docked at port.
