Review summary

We'll never go on Norwegian again. The staff/customer service makes a big difference. Norwegian really needs to work on that, even with their upper management. Staff doesn't seem to be even happy to be working on Norwegian. Seems like they are just going through the motion of working there. Seems like none of them even want to be there. I get it. They are there for months at a time and miss their home & families. But they are in a service industry, so they still have to be a bit more customer friendly. When we go on vacation, we'd like to relax and be happy, not be even more stressed or upset.

chaos, lots of bumper to bumper traffic, took over 2 hours to weave through traffic to park and get to cruise terminal, lots of construction

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
It usually takes about 3 hours to eat in the MDR's. Service is very, very slow. We had to ask 2 different waiters 4 times and wait 20 minutes just to get some ketchup. Buffet food was horrible. Quality of food was terrible.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
They have rock climbing, ropes course, trampoline but times that they were open were limited with long lines.

Not many shows.

Children's Programs

didn't use the children's program

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
The worse cruise line ever. Service was bad. Staff hardly smiled at all. Most staff members were very arrogant. They seem to just go through the motion and don't care about customer service. Even the assistant maitre d didn't seem to care when we complained to her.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
They do keep their ships clean and the design and layout is nice.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
Cabin bathroom had a terrible odor most of our trip. Smelled like the sewer. Cabin does have a plenty of storage area. Room steward is the only staff member that did a good job. He was always friendly and smiled. If the rest of the staff member would be like him, the cruise would be much better.

Ship tip

Don't bother reserving for shows. We spend 2 hours trying to reserve all the shows and it didn't matter anyways. We weren't able to reserve some of the shows. So we decided to go anyways and go in just fine even without a reservation. Make sure you reserve for dinner in the MDR. They state that it's freestyle cruising so you can eat when you want but if you don't have a reservations, you'll have to wait over an hour or more just to be seated.

The water was not clear at all. Don't bother trying to snorkel here. You won't be able to see anything.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

Felt rush at this port because we only got 1/2 a day here.

Faster than I anticipated. Not as bad the embarkation.
