Review summary

I was very disappointed in this cruise.  While the food was good and the service  wonderful, the rest was not.  I use a cane and since there are no trays being used I expected to receive some assistance in the Garden Cafe.  You can't use a cane and carry your food easily.  Only once did a server offer to assist me during the entire trip.

I found some of the other cruisers rude, which is not NCL's  fault, but it does prove that giving "free" drinks is an indication of not to travel on the ship.  We had to try to aid a elderly tipsy lady who had fallen in the elevator.  It took almost 20 minutes for the crew to come help.

The cruise director was not up to others who have done the job.  The only thing that changed on a daily basis was the movie in the Atrium.  Jewelry sales, art sales, or loud music are not enjoyable to me as a constant thing to do.

Also there was a charge for room service, TV movies, poor "prizes" for winning ship's trivia and games.  While I don't care about getting ship's pins I'm sure that first time cruises would and it was just another indication of things missing from NCL.

I will never cruise on a BIG ship again.  It took over an hour to get off the ship at almost every port if you weren't going on a tour.  Although  the organization of the exodus was well done.  The lines for anything were long.  It is like sailing with a small village.

This was the third NCL cruise since Jan., 2016, each was lacking.  I miss the Majesty, the Norway, the Crown, etc.  But I am guessing that profits for the companies are larger with the big ships.  The cruise companies should consider pleasing long time cruisers somehow.  Like having a childless area..  I like kids, but not running all over the cafe or atrium or sharing a hot tub with kids in diapers.  Most of these problems could be solved easily.   Carnival has an "adult only" area, they and HAL have a no kids allowed hot tubs.

Glad I got that off my chest!!!

Had a handicap stateroom on this trip and the size was wonderful, bright and cheerful. The room steward, Paul, was very efficient and extremely pleasant.

Ship tip

If you plan on reading a book, bring your own. The library is pitiful.

If you have cruised with NCL two times before and they were both lacking, why go on a third?

ncl has an adults only area on deck 16 aft. and the only time it should take an hour to get off is when you are being tendered to gsc. you dont always have to eat at the garden cafe. try the other restaurants. yes a big ship will have issues, but those are some things you have to deal with.
