Beautiful,but disappointing by hfreitas

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

very good cruise overall and very beautiful ship, very disappointing not being able to go to the glaciers, granted it was a life and death decision, but there should have been an alternative to go back and the decision should have been given to the passengers to be able to go back and see the glaciers this was supposed to have been the highlight of our cruise. To top it off it was very...... disappointing when arriving to Juneau no got off the ship for that emergency turn around. All ships in this situation should have an alternative on removing a passenger for emergencies, such has a helicopter landing or lift carrier to respond in any emergency situation instead of canceling a port. We should also get some kind of compensation for next cruise discount.

Most awesome destination vacation ever!! by jcarsonccc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

This was our first cruise and we were not sure we would enjoy. We found out that we do enjoy cruising and we did enjoy unpacking once and seeing some breathtaking scenery in Alaska and Canada. We found that we need to redefine our definition of "big". This is truly "big" country and absolutely indescribable.

Nice trip. by shannden

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

We enjoyed sailing on this new mega ship however if we go to Alaska again I would pick a much smaller ship. This large vessel cannot get as close to glaciers as smaller ones and when docking in port we were always the farthest from the town. Especially in Juneau we were docked more than a mile from town. Shuttles were provided for $2.00. The speciality restaurants were a disappointment. We expected better service and higher quality food. Service was average and only the food at Oceans was exceptional. First time on NCL and found the experience average although the ship was lovely.

Recommended with some reservations... read on... by hirezigj323

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Overall it was enjoyable cruise. Need to point out not enough entertainment shows to accommodate all passengers. You have to reserve immediately after boarding or you are out of luck to find any seats. Also, you should account in you budget for mandatory service charges of $14.50 per person per day. Finally, final disembarkation was not very well controlled. However, I really liked the offered free of charge service of handling our luggage with the airlines making sure they are delivered to our final destination. M

Poor empathy service to disabled. by johnringh

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Solo disabled on cane. Very difficult . Crew appeared fatigued after day two. Lots of staff standing around at times, no offers to help me. It would take me three trips to get all my stuff, often it was bussed off table before I even had a chance to eat.

Disappointed by 2lovely4you

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

I was very unhappy on this cruise regarding my room choice and itinerary changing. I spoke to the front desk at the end of the trip and Ana Margarida Felix Da Costa told me I should have brought it to their attention at the beginning of the cruise. Also, some of the food in the buffet was served cold on more than one occasion.

The cruise ship is clean and big, the housekeeper do the very good job, on board entertainment must rreserve eraly, since the theater is so small for bigger ship like this one, the foods either too salty or overcook.

Bliss - Alaska by MarkandDava

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Beautiful ship. Staff very friendly, supportive, and helpful. Very happy overall. Definitely love Norwegian Cruise Lines. The time at each port was shorter than other cruises, maybe because it is such a large ship and slower than the others. So much to do on the ship, you never really need to leave it. But missing out on Alaska and the Yukon would be tragic.

Nickel and dimed to death... by jennifer177

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Disembarking from the ship was an absolute nightmare. Even though they put people in groups to disembark each group spent will over an hour standing in line to get off the ship because they only had one person checking people of the boat. The were over 4 thousand people on the boat. My time for disembarking was 8:15 my group wasn't called until 8:30. It took me until 9;30 to get off the ship and only 15 minutes fo pick up my luggage and get through customs. The racetrack had wet white and black ash falling on it from the smoke stacks which got on and dried on your clothes. The back open air bar was covered with the ash from the smokestacks which landed in your drink and food. The fee for the unlimited spa access was way over priced. I would have been much better off to just get day passes, I would have saved a bunch of money. The buffet was closed quite often and a $15 daily service fee was granted on to my bill at the end of the cruise. I will never go on another Norwegian cruise ever again. 95% off the passenger's I spoke with planned on writing letters to Norwegian expressing their anger and disappointment. Out of my 5 cruises this one was 2nd to worst even though it was by far the most expensive. Carnival was the worst but at a quarter of the price.

A wonderful and relaxing cruise to Alaska by texasbuckaroos

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Notices before the cruise said ship would be in port at 8 am but that no one was allowed off until 10 am. We arranged transport for 11 am to allow time. Last night instructions said disembarkation started at 6:45 am and last call was 9:20 am with everyone off by 10 am. This needs to be fixed! We left the ship at 7:30 in a mob and waited in a coffee shop across the street from the terminal and waited for our ride at 11 am. A lot of people were confused and grumbling and said they had read the prior on-line messages that no one could leave the ship until 10 am.

Alaska the beautiful by PJMK

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Lovely ship but nothing outstanding about it. Fairly boring overall including Havana. Thoroughly enjoyed Jersey Boys - a shame not a bit more kid friendly. Definitely check out observation lounge. Wish we would have known about all you can play arcade and texting with other people on the ship. Would have paid the small fees involved. Disembarking on last day awful, lengthy, unnecessary process! Fort Valet great. Gold panning excursion commercialized. Disappointed by the staff's neutrality. Not perky, kind or friendly - yet not mean or nasty either. Never felt welcomed.

Alaska Trip - Great ports, not great ship for Teens unless you beat the crowds and bring your checkbook by adenardo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Bliss / Destination: Alaska - Inside Passage

Just to recap - the ports in AK were great - our favorites were Ketchican (Salmon Fishing and Rainforest Canopy Zip Lining) and Skagway (Talia River Float). Juneau wasn't our favorite however we were surprised how much fun we had panning for gold down by the river - a lot more fun then we expected. Victoria was not as adventurous, however the History Museum was pretty neat and we enjoyed ourselves. The Ship was a bit of a disappointment - our Balcony room was amazing, but the activities for Teens was pretty poor and since AK is sooo cold and windy, the water slides and pools aren't really built for that type of cruise - Some other ships have solarium's with open and close roofs - which may be a better choice. We were never able to book laser tag as people had booked them all up so the entire trip we weren't able to do that as a family and the go carts were the same, our teens got to do it a few times and my husband and I were able to do it twice with them throughout the entire cruise as people booked them all up by the 2nd day on the ship - I hope they fix this in the future (I would suggest they limit how many you can book at a time until your first set is done - similar to walt disney world Fast Pass) - so you can imagine how bored my teenage kids got. The Arcade was ridiculously priced and the times we were able to go on the go carting it was run very very poorly - they let young kids stop at corners and never took them off the track - they did not have a fast and a slow setup, it was always at a point were you couldn't even get around the track once without stopping for a person who was nervous or slow - very very disappointing.
