Review summary

I did not receive the $50 on board credit from RCI while on ship. I expect they will send it by mail. The steam room in the spa had design issues. If you didn't pull your legs up onto the bench when the steam went off you burned your legs quite badly. The art auctions were fun and the director Chris did an amazing job and was the best entertainment. The folding chairs in the atrium were not comfortable and disappointing. The Jersey Boys production was good but you needed to know you need reservations to see it. The ice cream at the buffet was a nice touch. We have never gone this late in the year so I expected it to be different weather. Unfortunately it was overcast, rainy, and cold the whole cruise. The only excursion we did this time was through RCI in Skagway and it was good. We didn't use any of the shore excursion credits from NCL and I'm very glad we opted out of the drink package as we drank very little and the gratuities that would have been charged were probably 10 times what we actually paid.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
food quality was not very good anywhere except "the Local".

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Went to all the art auctions, great Jersey Boys production, paid for the thermal suite package

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Jersey Boys was good. Didn't participate in anything else except art auctions.

Children's Programs

no children

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
very understaffed in most areas leading to very slow service

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
cleanliness was very good but the layout was difficult to navigate. We were mid ship and there are no elevators except at either end of the ship so a lot of walking was necessary. Seemed very boxy and not open like Princess.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
bathroom was a great size but the beds were so close to the walls you needed to go sideways to get around them. Very small for a suite.

Ship tip

Check where the elevators are if you have any mobility issues.

Typos make this review very hard to take as a valid experience. Which ship were you on, a Norwegian or a Royal?

You chose the time of year to go on this cruise!! IT'S ALASKA IN OCTOBER!! RCI?? What's that about?? We always get pretty great service onboard!!

I'm confused...an RCI refund ? You were on a Norwegian ship

I think a cold cruise is fun! Always remember on NCl you can go standby to the shows. Also the last person who received a check in the mail from NCL passed away over 30 years ago
