This was the second time on the Bliss and 5th NCL cruise. I am already looking at a future cruise in the Haven on the Bliss. The way the staff treat you, you want to keep going back. This was also our second Alaskan cruise and we will continue to go back. The beauty is breathtaking and even if you don't get off the ship in port, the views are worth the trip.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
This was my second time in the Haven, which provides for a quick and easy embarkation. The Haven guests are VIPs and have a separate check-in area and are escorted onto the ship by one of the butlers.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
The Haven restaurant and bar are staffed by an amazing team that know your name on day 1. I did not use the main dinning room or the buffet. Cagney's, La Cucina, and Le Bistro all had great food and very good service as usual.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
I did not use many of the activities available. The thermal spa is a given, use it on every NCL cruise we take. The Haven sun deck and hot tubs were used while in one of the ports. On our sea days it was too cold and windy to use outside venues, like the go karts.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The Beatles Experience (from Argentina) are very good. They were on both of our recent NCL Bliss cruises and we saw them multiple times. I am not one for musicals but the Jersey Boys show was amazing.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The Haven staff (bar, restaurant, butler) were all amazing, as usual. Staff in other parts of the ship were almost always smiling and very friendly, but we did have a couple of times where the staff was just okay. They weren't bad, just not as friendly as most of them are.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
This was our second trip on the Bliss and it is a great ship. It doesn't have the VR area like the Encore does, which is also a Breakaway Plus class of ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
This cabin is huge and the balcony is one of the largest on the ship. Having 2 full bathrooms is always a bonus. My wife loves having a bathtub in the cabin!
This was my first visit to Sitka and honestly I didn't see much of it. I mainly went into the town to have lunch and take a quick look around. Did not do any shore excursions.
This was my second time in Juneau. I primarily wanted to take the tram to the top of Robert's mountain. Had the best bloody mary there but the food was average at best. We docked very early and most stores were not open while I was in town.
very beautiful cruise up to the glacier, saw a whales, eagles, dolphins all from the balcony. The glacier itself is very pretty, but after sailing to Glacier Bay on a previous NCL cruise, not getting as close to the glacier is a little disappointing.
Very small, quaint little village. The attraction here was the bloody mary w/ crab, mini donuts, and the wildlife. I saw whales from our balcony, while walking along the shore, and during the whale watching excursion we took. Eagles were everywhere!
Again, being in the Haven has its perks, and getting off the ship quickly is one of them. Also, highly recommend using the FREE port valet service when in Seattle. Put my bag out the night before, like normal but didn't have to find it in the terminal, it gets loaded on your flight and is waiting at baggage claim at your home airport.
