The first night and second day were on the open sea and there were 14ft swells. We could hardly stand and spent much of the time holding onto the bed. We were told that this was unusual. There were 6700 people on this ship so for these 2 introverts we were thankful that our room offered sanctuary from the masses when it became too much. We met nice people, had fun on excursions and seeing quality entertainment. Disembarking left a bad taste.

Food and Dining

Pretty standard fare. Tepanyaki was poor for food and for entertainment. Our chef said he was new and it showed, couldn’t hear him over the other louder chefs . Food was too salty as his biggest “trick” was twirling the salt shaker. Best was Cagney’s. Steak was great. I wouldn’t waste my money on a water package. The water that is free onboard is fine.
Onboard Activities

There are sooo many activities going on, all of the time.
Entertainment

We saw “Six” and the Beatles review in the Black SS theater. Both were excellent. We’re scheduled to see “Jersey Boys” but fell asleep and missed it.
Service and Staff

All staff were excellent except for one guy at the customer service desk who could not figure out how to help us with a lost luggage issue even though we told him who the contractor was that handled our luggage, he insisted on calling the Westin then handed me the phone.

Clean and comfortable. We loved having the balcony.
Ship tip
Book specialty dining and excursions as soon as you can. If going to Alaska be prepared with rain gear
We did the wildlife excursion and seafood feast on Fin Island. The guide was fun and helpful and the food on the island was very good. On returning to the boat, the mate had found a large starfish to show everyone.
Biggest cluster crap I’ve been in. According to the info given out by the ship, our time to disembark was 10:30, but we were called an hour early. The lines ran from one end of the ship to the other and wound around at least once. The areas around the elevators were so jammed that people could not get off of the elevators and just stood there with the doors opened so the elevators couldn’t be used by anyone. We were told to have our passports and room keys ready but no one ever looked at them as CBP used facial recognition software to ID us. Another hurry up and wait kind of day that didn’t have to be that way.
No, they did not illegally overcrowd, 4000 passengers and 1700 staff. 14 ft swells were bad enough that staff were busy handing out barf bags for the performance in the theater that night. The starfish did not suffocate, it was returned to the water very quickly.
