This was our 40th Anniversary cruise and a bucket lister for the canal. It was also our first cruise with Norwegian. Overall, this cruise was outstanding. The ship, the food and especially the entertainment exceeded our expectations. Despite the fact that we didn't get to go to Costa Rica or Nicaragua (original itinerary) it was still a great cruise. Our previous cruise on the Holland Statendam was a complete disaster so we were leery. No problems here and a great experience!
Embarkation

A bit confusing. We embarked from a tent. Not a big deal.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Food was excellent! We ate at Los Lobos, Cagneys, La Cucina, main dining rooms, The Local, and The Garden Cafe. All of the food was excellent except for some overcooked shrimp one night at the buffet. La Cucina and Cagneys are exceptional! We ate at the local multiple times and it was fast and very good. Dinner service at the buffet was scaled back but it was not an issue for us. The observation deck also had a nice snack bar.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
You could be doing something at all times if you wanted to. Trivia, games, presentations, all day long. Excellent!
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Outstanding entertainment! Jersey Boys was fantastic! Six was great! The Beatles cover band was phenomenal! The Uptown Boys doing Billy Joel were also phenomenal. The magician and comedians were as good as I have ever seen. Simply fantastic entertainment!
Children's Programs
No kids
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
The staff was always friendly, helpful and obviously experienced, everywhere on the ship. They did an awesome job!
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Very clean ship. We also loved the layout of the ship. Small venues and plenty of bars. The cigar lounge was excellent. The Cavern was our favorite.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The cabin was not as large as those on other lines we have had. However, it was more than adequate and the shower was excellent. We only saw our attendant sporadically but we got what we needed with no problems.
Ship tip
Make reservations for shows and dining as soon as possible.
Went on an excursion to Antigua. Excellent trip! We had lunch at a microbrewery run by an American expat and his partners. It was VERY GOOD! There is a lot of history here (and a live volcano) . Don't miss it.
