Review summary

For the most part it was a wonderful trip with a few exceptions. The Victoria port was useless and had to go through hoops for a 3 hr stop at night. A total waste of time. The staff on the Bliss was incredible and accommodating. All were super friendly and helpful. I did not enjoy the French restaurant food but the service was great. My only other complaint is people hogging the loungers and chairs in the observation lounge. We often found people sleeping on them when others couldn’t find a place to sit. People need to sleep in their cabins and not the lounge. The staff shouldn’t allow people to hog the loungers/chairs.

Ship tip

We’re comfortable shoes because the ship is huge and there’s a lot of walking around. Also, get to the observation lounge early it’s hard to find a place to sit. People get there and hog their chairs and loungers. It’s was really annoying we found people sleeping in the loungers when they had people wanting to sit was look at the beautiful views. Please be courteous.

Ports of call

Victoria, British Columbia

Victoria was a 4 hr stop but could only be in shore for 3 hrs with a 20-30 minute ride to downtown. It was a complete waste of time. If NCL could cut out Victoria, it would a lot for more time in the Alaskan ports. NCL drop the BC port. I won’t take another cruise that stops in Victoria.

A group of us took the late May cruise and I agree with your evaluations 100%. We didn't even bother to get off the boat in BC.

Glad you mostly enjoyed your cruise! Agree on people who hog chairs and loungers, some people just do not think about anyone but themselves.

I believe the Jones maritime act was passed during the Alaska gold rush

Don’t blame the cruise lines, the Victoria stop is the result of an attempt by a politician from Washington State to protect US flagged cargo ships. Did not work out very well, foreign flagged ships just make a touch and go at places like Victoria to fulfill the letter of the law and avoid the intent..
