Norwegian Bliss

7 Night Mexican Riviera (Los Angeles Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 02, 2022

Ship: Norwegian Bliss

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 9278

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

We were happy to be able to experience being on this huge ship with such low occupancy. This will never happen again, I am sure. Happy Norwegian required 100% vaccination rate and almost all of the guests followed the mask requirements. Even in the ports of Mexico, most wore masks. I felt safe.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was extremely organized considering everyone received Covid testing at the pier. No problems at all.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Ship was about only 30% occupied. That meant no waiting for tables and an abundant amount of crew always willing to help. Food excellent as always.

Ocean Blue

3 out of 5

The food of course was excellent, but very disappointing that Lobster Tail is now considered an “up charge”. That is my main reason to get specialty dining at Ocean Blue.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Went in hot tub once. Too crowded for Covid standards. Didn’t stay long. Enjoyed all the trivia games.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Beatles Experience (from Argentina) were wonderful.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Exceptional service!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Loved the Observation deck. Huge area with lots of seating and windows all around. My favorite area on any ship I have been on.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Regular balcony size. Normal bathroom with corner shower. Larger balcony which I enjoyed!

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

5 out of 5
We took the disembarkation excursion Los Angeles and Rodeo drive. Took us from pier with our luggage to airport. Our flight was at 5:30 pm and did not want to spend the day sitting at airport. This was perfect solution. 5 hour excursion. Got to see lots of Los Angeles, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, & Rodeo drive.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

4 out of 5
Did not do an excursion. Took a water taxi to see arches. Took about 35 minutes and got good pictures. $15 per person. Visited Cabo Wabo for drinks.

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

4 out of 5
Excursion Discover Puerto Vallarta. Usual city excursion, stops at Malacon, Church, City hall, learned lots of history, then of course the stop at the jewelry store and flea markets.

Mazatlan, Mexico

5 out of 5
Took the “topless bus tour”. Saw a cliff diver which was cool. One of the stops had beach access, so I got to get my feet wet and walk along the beach.

Ensenada, Mexico

5 out of 5
Did the Wine Country excursion. Probably my favorite. Visited 2 wineries, both with generous tastings and food provided. Bread, cheeses and pizza!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Easy because of our tour we had scheduled.

We were supposed to be on that cruise as well but tested positive at the port. I left home 24 hrs prior (drove to the terminal) with 2 negative tests that were less than 48 hrs old just to get turned away. Very upset with the way NCL handled everything or the lack of hands off attitude. Rebooked for the end of February.

😶 What's a "topless bus tour"? Was the bus topless or the people? 😏
