Review summary

It was a beautiful cruise that at times, on the colder sea days felt "long." However, it was quite restful, and way better than being at work! I'd do it again in a New York minute!!!

Embarkation

NYC is NYC, gonna be some problems, delays, wasn't terrible though. I have no idea on how they hand out boarding group numbers. I was within the first 175 people to check in, got boarding group #9. Friends of mine behind me by at least 25-50 people got group #5. How does THAT happen? Didn't matter, since we had a handicapped individual with us, so we were amongst the 1st onboard.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food across the ship in all venues was very good. Salty at times, but very good nonetheless.

Garden Café

4 out of 5

Ate breakfast here everyday...very very good.Had lunch here often...very good. Best hot dogs ever.Had numerous dinners here, was always satisfied. Some dishes were particularly salty, but not a deal breaker. The ONLY true problem at this venue will be your fellow passengers. They are rude, inconsiderate, and believe they are more important than you. They will just walk in front of you. They will just stop for no reason in front of you.

Q Texas Smokehouse

3 out of 5

Decent, will give this another shot next month on Encore. Got the sampler platter. Sausage was awesome, brisket was salty, chicken had a smoked flavor but no real seasoning to it. The jalapeno cheddar corn bread was horrible.

Teppanyaki

4 out of 5

Always a win here! The show alone is worth it. The food is very good. The fried rice needed a bit more flavor, and was slightly burned but still edible. The seafood combo consists of bay scallops, shrimp, and calamari...AWESOME!!!The drink to have is the "Shaku-Shaku!" A light refreshing, and intoxicating drink. Teppanyaki is the ONLY place you can get this drink onboard.

Coco's

5 out of 5

If this doesn't cure your sweet tooth fix? NOTHING will!OMG!!!

The Observation Lounge

4 out of 5

Views & vistas are amazing!Your ONLY problem in this venue, like the Garden Cafe is your FELLOW PASSENGERS! They seem to think this is an extension of their stateroom. They sleep on loungers with SLEEP MASKS on!!!! Ridiculous. The snack buffets are a nice touch.

Los Lobos

5 out of 5

WOW!!!!!What can I say about Los Lobos? Devine is a good word. I ate outside on the waterfront, very nice. Food was delicious, staff was excellent. Street corn is to die for, as is the shrimp civeche!!! I went with the skirt steak, tender and seasoned perfectly! THIS IS A DON'T MISS VENUE!

Humidor Cigar Bar

4 out of 5

Nice choice of cigars, was quite happy with the Maduro 107's @ $9.00 per cigar. It went well with a flight of The Macallan scotch.

The Local Bar & Grill

4 out of 5

Wings, wings, wings, and more wings!!! Service slow at times, but food is worth the wait. Always my 1st stop upon embarkation.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Pools were nice once we got to warmer weather. Hot tubs were accessible and NOT overrun with kids. Always things to do on the ship somewhere sometime.

Tradewinds Tax-and-Duty-Free Shops

NO MINIATURE CERAMIC BLISS SHIPS!!!!Sold out on the cruise before ours, did NOT restock. When asked about purchasing one and having it shipped to me? I was told it "can't be done, you must purchase onboard." When I stated, "how can I buy something onboard you didn't restock?" Was told, "sorry sir." Even went to customer service desk on deck 6 Atrium...no avail there either.I did get my new G-Shock watch at the shops, and the only reason they're getting 1☆.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Never a problem with staff on ANY NCL cruise I've EVER been on...this cruise was NO different! My cabin steward, Combrum was excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Staff constantly cleaning, and picking up after guests. Found no cleanliness problems at all. Spotting on glassware n flatware in Cafe but that's dishwasher spotting.

Cabin / Stateroom

Ship tip

Don't overdo the drink package, you'll regret it.

Ports of call

Castries, St. Lucia

4 out of 5
Not the prettiest of places, be prepared to be bombarded with ganga & powder sales pitches. Be aware of your surroundings. Nice restaurants with wifi right in port...don't get the hamburger though. 2 teeney tiny patties on a bagel.

St. John's, Antigua

4 out of 5
Beautiful once ya get to the beach(es), not the most scenic of drives to them though.

Bridgetown, Barbados

Loved this place!!! The Boatyard is the place to go!!!!

Basseterre, St. Kitts

Beautiful place, did the Ocean Terrace Inn for the day. No beach access, but nice nonetheless.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Canceled due to weather BEFORE we even left NYC! Bummed about that and confused since it was a 4pm arrival almost 4 days after leaving NYC.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

The city that never sleeps!

Disembarkation

Eeehhhh, wasn't thrilled with this. I usually self assist. However, with a 13 day cruise I had more baggage, so I put my stuff out to be carried off by crew. Oh boy, it's like an Easter egg hunt to find your stuff. I much prefer carrying off my own stuff. You get off quicker too! I had 9am walk off, at 10:20am I was going through customs. Not terrible, but not as quick as self assist.
