Review summary

Highly recommend a cruise to Alaska. Need to see these glaciers before they completely recede, the natural wildlife, mountains, rainforest trails, and daylight until 11pm. Summer is a great time to go. Remember to dress warm (have layers) and be ready for rain so you can enjoy. Loved the ships’ amenities and entertainment for our teenagers as well as for my husband and I. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Le bistro- French—was fantastic. Delicious steak and appetizers. Great escargot. Loved Los Lobos- Mexican and personalized guacamole made in front of you was a great extra. Cagneys fell short and steak was not as great as expected. The Manhattan has great food and even better service!!! Great variety of dinners at the garden café every night.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Ping pong table tournaments Fitness center Thermal spa suite is a must since it’s cold in Alaska and couldn’t enjoy the pool and slides. Also had a bonus snow/ice room not seen in prior NCL cruises. Go karting and Laser tag are a must for the kids— big and small :)—- must sign up as soon as you board and recommend signing up on any of the kiosks— new to the NCL ships And lots of fun! Deal or no deal and bingo are great family games We also liked the all inclusive game card for the week for the teens that work on MOST games! They had a smaller version of mini golf. They did not have a basketball area/sports deck. Running area on the pool deck was more spacious than other NCL ships and did not affect the pool chairs in the surrounding area

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Jersey boys was great and recommended. Havana was colorful but you could miss. Had live music in multiple lounges

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
They had plenty to do. Ping pong table, pool and slide if they could resist the cold climate when wet, laser tag, go karting, arcade, bowling. We also signed up for entourage teen club but honestly so busy and tired after the excursions that they never attended. We also enjoyed the painting class, trivia games, salsa dancing and cupcake design class offered in the atrium

Service and Staff

Service was very good to excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I felt that the ships’ design was much more spacious in terms of public area seating both around the pool and observatory lounges. The observatory lounge was especially nice with luxury chases/light blankets and comfortable sofa/chairs with lots of space for viewing the glaciers and ocean.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had two adjacent balcony rooms. It allowed us to enjoy the cabin as a family with more space. Really enjoyed the one room with a bunk bed and sofa bed. The bathroom showers were an upgrade compared to prior ships with a tub and double vanity. Modern design and clean.

Ship tip

Book all your excursions, shows, specialty dining dates and times online prior to embarkation. You need to go to the kiosk to sign up for laser tag and go karting as soon as possible. That way you don’t spend all your time running around on the first day to get settled.

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

We had 6 hrs and enjoyed this city prior to returning home. It’s nice to see Pikes Market and the Space Needle. Had lunch at a nearby cafe. Grabbed a cup of Seattle’s best coffee and visited the original Starbucks location. We enjoyed doing things at our own pace and even had time for a Great Escape Room challenge before going back to the airport on their LINK metro system on the way home. Uber and Lyft are very expensive from the airport to the downtown area.

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska Did not visit port

We took the tour for whale watching, glaciers and rain forest trails.. Small group of people on the boat (20) and lots of opportunities to take pictures of the humpback whales. Did not feel crowded on the boat. We saw other whale watching tours that looked very crowded with multiple passengers on board

Skagway, Alaska

We took a fast ferry to the nearby town of Haines. Then went on a bus drive up to a bald eagle national reserve and went rafting down the river. Saw a brown bear during our trip and had a great time with our tour guide Cody

Cruise Glacier Bay Did not visit port

At sea day. But hurry up and visit Alaska as the glaciers are receding compared to when I was there 18 years ago.!!

Ketchikan, Alaska

My favorite town of the three Alaskan spots we visited. We did the salmon sportfishing excursión and caught both pink and silver salmon that we are able to ship back home.

Victoria, British Columbia

Beautiful city at night. My only complaint was that we had very little time at this port. This was the only place I did not do an NCL cruise excursion so could not get off the boat until 830 when we should’ve been off the boat at 8 PM. We had to return to the boat at 11:30 PM. We took a private tour of the city from the cruises only website! Our driver was right outside our gate waiting for us and had our name on a sign to identify him easily. The tour was full of historical facts and wish we could’ve been here longer.

Disembarkation

Easy. We had pre-purchased the NCL Transportation back to the airport and was well organized. Color disembarkation tags were given to you based on your flight times. There is more than ample time for you to make your flight and check in bags, etc. without much stress .
