Review summary

This was our second cruise (last year cruised Mexican Riviera) with Carnival. Although these are two completely different venues and environments, we would have to say the Alaskan cruise was much more beautiful and enjoyable.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
If you can’t find something to delight your taste buds then you must have a predisposed attitude about food quality. The main dining room is very efficient with numerous menu options and they do an excellent job of communicating well in advance what the featured theme or menu will be! We tried three specialty restaurants; Cagney’s was top notch and our favorite (staff was excellent). Q - Texas BBQ was also very good and or waiter was friendly and helpful. Our third was Los Lobos and we were extremely disappointed, starting with salsa which was bland for a Mexican restaurant. Menu choices were limited and our waitress must have forgot to pack her personality! We love Mexican cuisine and we were so looking forward to this restaurant - must say only disappointment on our trip.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Go carts were fabulous, theater shows were fantastic (Havanna and Jersey Boys), had an excellent time with lot’s of laughs at Happy Hour Prohibition (pay for venue), always great entertainment in the atrium, etc .... enjoyed casino and numerous bars & lounges.

Entertainment

Excellent venues, music was fabulous, enjoyed the variety.

Children's Programs

Only my wife and I in our party ....

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I commented at least twice on Facebook and Instagram during our cruise on the first class service, efficiency, and attitudes of crew members. They focus on customer service and efforts are focused on making your cruise an excellent experience! Yes, heard complaints from passengers, but generally the rhetoric came from people who couldn’t recognize anything but their own wants / needs. Well done Norwegian, in our opinion!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Bliss easily accommodates 4,500 passengers and crew of 1,700. On day 6 of 7 we were still finding new places to explore and enjoy. Housekeeping was very well done ... we walked by a few open cabins where it appeared a tornado had occurred. Possibly, their opinion would be different ... but my response would be, REALLY?

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Our cabin easily accommodated the two of us. Plenty of room, lot’s of storage (hanging space, closet shelving, stow empty suitcases under bed, cabinet cubbies, etc.), three outlets at desk and USB ports near bed, and bathroom / shower were spacious.

Ship tip

Be patient with elevators and be willing to use staircases when moving just one or two decks up or down. There are plenty of elevators and they are heavily burdened during peak times throughout the day, but we used stairs when we only had to go up a couple of decks or in some cases down three or four decks.

Interesting & beautiful city but expensive!

Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska

Glacier Bay is beautiful and we were fortunate to have very little rain on our trip. Early May proved to be a great choice on our part with reasonably nice weather and ZERO bugs!

Juneau, Alaska

Just Okay, disappointing for a capital city / town. Expected more and was the least liked of our trip.

Skagway, Alaska

Quaint little town and enjoyed our excursion on White Pass Railroad.

One word, GORGEOUS!

Ketchikan, Alaska

Interesting and wonderful small town. We did the Duck Boat excursion and our onboard narrator was a young man by the name of Kody! He made the event ... very polite, very knowledgeable, and knew how to wring the most out of a corny joke. He made the experience a great one!

Victoria, British Columbia

Beautiful European themed city, but too short of a port stop to really enjoyed all that Victoria had to offer. Recommend using the rickshaws to get to & from ship and city!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had a little delay and congestion in the terminal, but have some tolerance with the fact 4,500 people are getting off and the ship has to completely restock and be ready to go in just a few hours. The ship did utilize a cadence system of colored luggage tags and disembarking times. I sure this helped a lot toward minimizing congestion.

Traveler Photos

Beyond my expectation! Cameras can’t do the raw beauty justice! White Pass Railroad Beautiful port city (and no rain) Beautiful carvings and Totempoles Parliament building Disembarkation... leaving port
