Review summary

Overall this was a beautiful ship with lots to do. Never felt the amount of people were really on the ship as there was. Staff was super friendly and always willing to help. The room was super spacious and very comfortable.

Embarkation

We stayed in the Haven so embarking was fast and easy.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The food was average. The Manhattan room, Savor, and Taste menus were all the same and barely changed day to day. The Garden Cafe's food was pretty blah and sometimes cold and dried out from sitting out all day. There was a burger bar but they didn't even make the burgers fresh they were pre cooked and just sat there for hours. The area was huge with many different stations but were all repeat stations from the other side. The Haven food was excellent but also very little change in the menu from day to day. Q, Teppy, and Le Bistro were all good food.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The games had way too many for couples or married people and not enough for singles or people who just want to play without being put on the spot with their spouse. There were also games that you had to pay for. There is A LOT of nickel and dimeing on this ship. You pay a lot for a cruise and there is almost more that you have to pay extra for when you get on the ship then what is included. The race track was also fun but if you were in the back and not speeding you didn't get all 8 laps in that paid for. Yes this also cost extra money and it shouldn't of. Went went to 80's night at The Social and we were the only one's asked to not dance with our drinks. This place was crowded and I didn't want to just put my drink down and have to continuously leave the dance floor to drink. If you were worried about the glass possibly falling and breaking then you should have offered plastic cups (like when leaving Prohibition and people wanted to take their drinks)

Entertainment

Saw Jersey Boys, Havana, and Prohibition (also extra money) and they were all excellent.

Ship Quality

The elevator system is HORRIBLE. There are not enough and don't have any rhyme or reason to them. You will be watching an elevator and you should be the next stop but it then skips your floor. They run so slow and are no where near enough for the amount of people trying to get places. Now that being said you definitely don't feel like there are 4,000 people on the ship. You have to resort to getting on the elevator going the wrong way just so you can get on one and then eventually head the right way. Be prepared to wait and wait and wait here. There is also a lack of organization or directions. We were constantly going in exits because they would have a sign for something at the exit and nothing saying this is an exit. Disembarking was a MAD HOUSE. We had a tour so had to go to the theater but everyone else trying to get off the ship's line went all the way back to the theater so the people who were suppose to check us in and had our stickers were hiding behind the mob of people and they made no attempt to show them self or have a sign saying this is where we are suppose to go to. At one point we went to the wrong group and were told to go to the other side of the theater but failed to mention that we had to check in and get our sticker first on that side of the theater behind the mob of people.

Ship tip

Be prepared to wait for the elevators and pay extra for most things on the ship

Ports of call

Seattle, Washington

5 out of 5
We did the Underground Tour, Pike's Place, and the Aquarium.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
Went to a rainforest and learned a lot about plants and was fun but when we signed up for the excursion it highlighted more on that we would see wildlife and this wasn't the case. We also saw the lumberjack show that was a lot of fun.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
Juneau has a free shuttle to get to and from town. This was a small cute and fun town. We went whale watching that was a lot of fun. Before whale watching we went and saw Mendenhall Glacier.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Did the train ride and almost missed our other excursion due to a rock falling on the tracks. This was very beautiful ride and informational. We then went dog sledding which was a lot of fun and was so interesting to see how the dogs just couldn't wait to run. Couldn't see town except for what we saw from the train.

Victoria, British Columbia

5 out of 5
This port is beautiful from what we saw but it cost money to get to and from town unless you walk but due to doing an excursion we didn't have time to stop and town and be able to get back to the ship in time. I would have liked to see the town but it is ridiculous that they charge for a shuttle to or from town.

Thanks for the review, we are going on her in December and have heard a lot of the same things. It is ridiculous that they nickel and dime you. It is disappointing that the food isn’t good. We thought we try NCL again since we did a 11 day out of NYC years ago and it was great. These reviews will probably make this our last NCL and stick with RCCL.
