We were some of the youngest on the ship. We're probably not HAL target demographic though. Ship was pretty quiet by about 9pm.

Do a thorough tour of the entire ship ASAP. There are many little gems and hide-aways you might miss if you don't.

Enjoy it! Avoid the buffet and schedule the dining hall to eat. No additional cost, quieter, and fewer people with great service.

Take some time at the start of the trip to explore the ship a bit to discover the areas you want to spend time in. Those areas are going to vary for different people and might be the thermal spa, the aft deck that can be accessed through the Lido Buffet on deck 9, the walking loop on deck 3, the pool on deck 9, or somewhere else.

Take a telephoto lens for your smart phone or camera. Be prepared to walk a lot. It is a BIG ship and getting from place to place means walking (except when you can move from deck to deck via the elevators).

A balcony stateroom adds so much to your experience. Taking the inside passage from Vancouver to Alaska or the return trip try to book your stateroom on the shore facing side of the ship.
