The only reason to go on this cruise is the views of Glacier Bay. If not for these views the cruise would have been a bust. Other than the Pinnacle Grill the food was a bust and the ports were full of jewelry stores and crappy souvenir shops. I can't stress enough how bad the bed was and how tired I was because of it. It looks like the system here is giving my rating a value of 3.8 but if I were giving it an overall score I would give it a 2.8
Embarkation
4 out of 5
There were plenty of people there to help and the line moved fairly quickly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
The food in the Pinnacle grill was outstanding. All other food was bland and some like the Dive In was terrible. Service in the Pinnacle Grill and Canaletto was excellent. Service in the dinning room was very good. Service in the Lido was lacking. The drinks around the ship were mostly good but the same drink varied widely from bar to bar.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
There were quite a few activities we only took part in a couple and they were good. I played in a poker tournament, and some trivia challenges.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
We liked the band in the Rolling Stone lounge and the trio in the Ocean Bar were very good.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our stateroom attendants were amazing. The waiter we had in the Pinnacle Grill was also very good. The staff at the Ocean Bar was also great.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
It was very clean.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The size of the cabin was nice and it was very clean. The mattress was the worst I have ever tried to sleep on anywhere. If there had been room I would have thrown pillows on the floor and slept on them. The couch was broken which made it very uncomfortable. I'm disappointed I paid for an ocean view since I couldn't spend any time in my room enjoying it.
Ship tip
The Ocean Bar has some seats by a window that are a great place to be in the evening if you don't want to go to a show.
We decided not to do an excursion and use this stop to complete our souvenir shopping. There were so many jewelry stores with aggressive sales people out front, it was very annoying. Not much other than Jewelry stores and cheap souvenir stores.
We did a whale watching and Mendenhall Glacier tour but did not book it through the ship. The tour was outstanding. We were on a small boat (less than 30 people) and had amazing views of whales.
The town is very small. Book a tour or you will run out of stuff to do. I don't remember what the excursion was called but it was a bus and train trip. There were some beautiful sites. The stop for lunch (which was mediocre) was too long and that time would have been better spent at other locations along the way.
