This was an excellent cruise! We had a great time and enjoyed some unique and fun excursions. Of Holland America's three Pinnacle class ships this one has been our favorite!!!!
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Smooth and well organized.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Dining room food was excellent. Food on Holland is at the top of our list among similar cruise lines.
No specialty dining this time but they are always great! Buffet is good with many, many options.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Pool, library (good selection of titles), trivia (lots of fun), game shows, pickleball
Everything was very enjoyable.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Stage shows are excellent. The performers are a cut above other cruise line shows we have seen. People traveling with us on Holland for the first time were amazed at the performers.
The musicians were very good in the lounges around the ship.
Children's Programs
No children traveling with us.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Waiters were very good in the dining room. We had the same table (and waiters) each night. They were very pleasant and attentive. We got to know each other and they anticipated our wants and needs.
Room stewards were very good and kept the room nicely made up. They were nice and unobtrusive.
The cruise director, entertainment director and sports coordinator were very good.
We found the staff with this cruise to be superior in every way. We very happy with all staff that we interacted with.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
We like the ship layout. We are familiar with the layout as we sailed on the other Pinnacle class ships before. Common areas were maintained clean and well maintained. Some areas of the ship were deeply cleaned each night on some schedule.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We were happy with the size of the room. They are plenty of storage spaces for clothing and belongings. The bathrooms are nice size for a cruise ship and the showers are the larger and nicest we have experienced on a cruise ship.
Ship tip
Get to lounges and theater early for scheduled shows for a seat.
Actually we did not visit Ocho Rios because another cruise ship hit the pier the day before. The port was changed to Montego Bay. Ship did an excellent job with explaining the change and scheduling excursions for the new port. We did a raft float down a lazy river that was a lot of fun.
