Review summary

Totally enjoyed the cruise, but I think there are some issues to still be fixed with staffing (not enough waiters in bars) and embarkation, etc.

Embarkation

1 out of 5
It was awful. We had to stand in line outside for over 2 1/2 hrs. and the workers running the check-in did not have a clue as to what was going on.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining room food was okay- service top notch. Lido food was good and service okay. Tamarind food was excellent and service excellent. Pinnacle food was good and service okay. Rudi's food was not worth the extra expense and service was lacking.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Trivia and music trivia were fun. The wife enjoyed playing bridge as well.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
With the exception of the BB King Band, the music at best was mediocre.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All wait staff, room stewards, and bar tenders were great!! At times, it was hard to get waited on in the bars to get a drink. I think this was probably due to under staffing.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
My only complaint is the Crow's Nest is not utilized like it was on older ships which I liked better.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Very Good and totally clean.

Ship tip

We were on the 5th floor which makes it easy to get to the different floors without having to take the elevator every time.

We took the excursion to the Alhambra. The excursion was nice, but a couple of serious problems- 1 no one told us we needed our passports until we were on the bus, so half the bus had to get off and go get their passports. 2- when calling to get the excursions to the world stage- it was a joke. Totally disorganized!!!

Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France

4 out of 5
No excursion even though I was told to get on a tender that had an excursion going to Nice. No communication at all about where to exit for non-excursion tenders and excursion tenders!!

Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy

4 out of 5
took the excursion to Cinque-Terre and was very enjoyable. Better organized at the world stage for staging of excursions

Palermo, Sicily

3 out of 5

Naples, Italy

took the excursion to Pompeii and it was great. The actual port of Naples is filthy!!

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy Did not visit port

took the train to Rome and then to Sorrento

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We did our own walk off- but no one was their to stamp our passports, and we ran into a problem at Frankfurt airport.
