Overall, we had a wonderful cruise and saw some great cities. I would recommend HL for older people looking for service and interesting places to visit. We plan to book a Mediterranean cruise with HL next year.

Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
Excellent food and many choices. Very good service.
Lido Market
3 out of 5
Food is good but there the area is crowded with people continually. Need to form a line for almost every station. The service is very good and the selections are nice but the crowds are a turn off.
Gelato
1 out of 5
I don't understand how HA charges additional money for a Gelato. We saw no one spending more money for this service which should be for free.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
This ship is better for older people. It offers a variety of musical venues geared to an older (baby boomers and above). Two pools w/ whirlpools...one with nice retractable roof. Very good fitness center. All perfect for my wife and me.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Stages shows were so-so but music was great for a older crowd. Average age on this cruise would be sixties/seventies and up.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Everyone...from the Captain on down was very personable and helpful.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
New ship and state of the art.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Overall is was very good. The size is small for a long cruise but the staff is excellent. Bed was comfortable and bathroom well maintained but small.
Ship tip
This is a ship better suited for older travelers who care about service and fewer activities.
We arrived in Amsterdam early morning Sunday of the cruise day and took the train from the airport to the train station. Locked our bags at the station and then looked for breakfast. I can say Amsterdam near the train station Sunday morning looks like the day after Mardi Gras in New Orleans...trash everywhere we walked with cleaning crews hosing down the streets and sidewalks. I assume there is more to see in this city but first impressions were not good. Amsterdam is a lot like the Tour de France...lots of bikers all on drugs.
We did a marathon Alla tour which was exhausting but excellent. Expect hordes or tourists everywhere you go. Told to be weary of pickpockets in most cities but in this one particularly.
Hop on Hop off tour. These are expensive for what you get. They give you earphones for verbal narrative as you move slowly through traffic and a map of the route. Need to time what you see in order to make it back the the ship.
Nice small German city. We bought nice two bottles of wine and some German Becks beer at a Woolworths of all places for $10...you can see how we get ripped off in the States and on the ship.
We did the HA airport transfer. Put bags out the night before and then try to find them in the terminal when you get off the ship. Then go find the bus taking you to the airport. Amsterdam airport is another whole discussion.
