Review summary

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! A must do on everyone's bucket list.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Canada Place is a great embarkation port, though there can be at times a lot of walking. Not sure the app saved any time as we still had to show copies of everything. Also ship was roughly half full and only 2 ships in port, so may have a different experience or rating if was full or more ships in port.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Outside of the salty-dog, all food was better than recent Carnival cruises. Selection and portions about the same as Carnival. Crown grill was fantastic, we did it twice. Found it unusual but enjoyed the family style sides.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Pools and Hot Tubs were never too crowded. Usual bsaic fair to do, shuffle board, giant chess and ping pong. However, nothing special like rock wall or roller-coaster. The crew offered lots of classes, demonstrations and games to keep most entertained and busy.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Though, I didn't necessarily enjoy the shows, the singers and dancers were good. I would take the entertainment on a Princess cruise over Carnival, but very similar. Magician was good but I think I have seen too many tik-toks and caught more than I should to be able to enjoy the show.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Princess still services your room twice a day and the staff was fantastic. Did not notice a shortage, though could tell many were new. Sammi was always there with a drink if I needed it. Some of the other wait staff either too new or not performing primary job. Had an issue with the table ordering 4 mimosas and 4 bottles of perseco being billed to my account. Both guest services and head of the offending bar quickly corrected. Just he sure to check your portfolio often for accuracy and you should be fine.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
With the exception of a little wear and tear/rust the ship hides her age well. Staff kept her clean and tried to enforce COVID protocols. Ship layout is good but access may be too restrictive on port side and could be made worse with a full ship.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Great room location. Was concerned about possible noise but the two outer doors made us feel we were tucked nicely between floors with nothing but rooms all around. Only issue was with the air conditioner. It couldn't keep up on really sunny hot days. We only had 2 hot days which we would complain about if confined to the room but we were out of the room most of those days. No issue at night and sleeping.

Ship tip

Check your portfolio often to catch potential mistakes, but most ofvallmenjoy your cruise!

Ports of call

Vancouver (Canada Place), British Columbia

5 out of 5
Great Canadian city but Gastown is closed to being overrun with the homeless. If looking for cheaper options to and from Vancouver, check out Canadian Rail/Amtrak between it and Seattle Wa. Train will be running sometime in Sep and really is stunning scenery between the two cities.

Skagway, Alaska

5 out of 5
Took a long excursion to Davidson Glacier (Wilderness Glacier Safari - hike and canoe). Then walked around downtown.

Ketchikan, Alaska

5 out of 5
So many options in this port.

Juneau, Alaska

5 out of 5
First time visiting and did 2 excursions. 1 from CL and 1 on the market. Extended Mendehall Glacier and whale watching. Highly recommend Alaska Galore Tours for whale watching.

Cruise College Fjord, Alaska

5 out of 5
Even better than Glacier Bay!

Cruise Glacier Bay

5 out of 5
Absolutely stunning! Could not get to Marjorie Glacier but the rest did not dissapoint.

Whittier (Anchorage), Alaska

4 out of 5
Not much to do in town if catching a transfer, but some good fishing charters or Glacier viewing if you have time.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Not much to the Whittier terminal. If our transportation was ready would have been 5 minutes from walking off the ship until getting on a bus.
