Good, but not great by drruthb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a good,  not great, time. Food was okay; desserts were fair. Entertainment was okay, except for Ice Show, which was great. Carl Banks, comedian, was very funny. Things to watch out for:1) transfer cost from Houston Airport to Galveston Port was $47, for an hour and a half ride. I travel to Boston (5 hours) for a lot less than that. Real rip off. Shame on Royal Caribbean for starting the cruise that way; 2) RC tours promise, but don't always deliver. Case in point: tour of historical Galveston and Houston Space Center: no tour of historic Galveston, a tour guide who shared personal stories, rather than information about Galveston, Houston, etc.; and a tour that ended much earlier than we expected.

This cruise was just fine, not outstanding. The food was not as good as expected and the public areas were not kept as clean as expected. They seemed under they seemed understaffed. The expeditions were tremendous. The one of the plantation home owned by the family of E lizabeth Barrett Browning was amazing. The staff at the plantation and our guise Tnora and Olive were tremendous.

Fun in the Sun! by judy17335

My husband and I had a great time for the entire 7 days of our trip on the Navigator of the Seas!  There was plenty to do on board, wonderful food to eat, show to see, friends to make! All of our Shore excursions were great but we loved the Isla Passion Jet boat ride to a private isle! Thrills for sure as the jet boat turn circles! Highly recommended!

Great cruise by heatherr456

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was great and we had a wonderful time. The only thing I didn't like was the price of drink packages but overall everything was great. We enjoyed dining in the evening. We had hoped for more entertainment from the dining staff as we have had on other cruises. The staff was very courteous and tended to our needs in a timely manner. Thank you for a wonderful cruise!

Diving into the Navigator by jswimprim

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My husband and I enjoyed celebrating our 37th Anniversary on the Navigator.  It was our 3rd time on this ship.  It has great charm and the staff is excellent!  There are a couple of reasons why we did not give it all 5s across the board.  The pillows are terrible!  I do recommend if you have back or neck issues or you just want comfort bring your own pillows.  The shows were good but the same we saw about 3 years ago.  For the more frequent cruisers it might be nice to have new shows.  The menu was the same as well.  Not much variety unless you want to spend quite a bit extra and go to the specialty restaurants.

We are divers and had an extreme AWEFUL experience with one of the excursions.  We dove with the ship and the company they used was Sand Dollar.  The boat was terrible, not functioning properly.  Instead of taking 30 min. to get to the dive site it took 3 times that.  They left with no water for the divers and had to get another boat to go back for it.  The dive master was not observant and didn't notice I had a BC and regulator that was NOT working properly which could have gotten me into some serious trouble 70 feet under the water.  It was my second malfunctioning regulator.  Their equipment was dated and not in good working order.  If they use the same dive shop it will force us want to dive with other dive operations.

The Spa was amazing!  The people that work there were very attentive and experienced.

Disembarkation was not well organized.  We walked off with our luggage and it took 1 1/2 hours to get out.  We heard that there was a computer glitch and some people did not even get off until after 1 PM.

Overall, a good ship.  Even though it came out of dry dock last year it needs to work on improving a few things.

Vacation 2015 by rebeccaadams

All in all we had a great time.  The only complaint we had was the bars closing too early.  We were in the adult section at 9:00pm and had to go to the sky lounge just to get a drink.

CRUISE REVIEW by mannie18

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I TOTALLY ENJOYED THE SHIP.  THE FOOD WAS NOT SO GOOD IN THE WINDJAMMER. I THINK THE MEAT COULD BE COOKED A LITTLE LONGER SOME MEAT THAT I RECEIVED WAS STILL WAY TO PINK FOR ME.  BACON NEED TO BE COOKED TO BE CRISPY.  I DO THINK THAT JOHNNY ROCKETS SHOULD BE FREE AND THAT THE SANDWICH PLACE SHOULD MAKE SANDWICHES TO BE MADE TO ORDER.   OTHER THAN THAT THE SERVICE AND SERVICE PEOPLE WERE VERY FRIENDLY.    OTHER THAN THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE.

Awesome experience by dkoveleski

Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

My wife and I loved the cruise.  We have fond memories, and still talk about it days later, about our waiters and our cabin steward.  Start with the waiters - they remembered our names every night and always asked how are day was.  They treated us like king and queen there.  Awesome service and many, many smiles.  Our cabin steward remembered our names the first morning on the ship.  Everytime he saw us in the hallway, he always asked how we are and if we had a good night's sleep, nice excursion, dinner and evening.  Three of the nights he had surprises for us made of towels (animals).  Waiters were Melvine and Rohan.  The cabin steward was Ronald.  Also great food and awesome hospitality by everyone on the ship.  Did I say awesome on every experience - well it was.  Will do again.

Food by adamsth1

We enjoyed the cruise but found the food in the main dining room to be average and the breakfast in the Windjammer to be sub-par. They need to hire someone that can cook Grits, Oatmeal and scrambled eggs.

Restful Cruise by chazzbrown

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends

This trip was a relaxing one in which I did not leave ship at ports of call except Roatan. Honduras.  Passengers were of all ages but very few teenagers.  Ship is still in good condition and crew were friendly and helpful.  Food in all venues were good.

Mother/Daughter cruise by mwr73

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

After an avid Carnival cruiser, my daughter and I tried Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas for the first time.  We had a great time at the ports of call in Cozumel, Mexico, Belize City, Belize, and Roatan, Honduras.  The ship was very nicely furnished/decorated and the staff was great.  My only negative feedback from Royal Caribbean is that everything seems to be geared towards an older crowd.  Most of the activities have a cost affiliated with them unless you stay pool side.  The mattresses in the inside stateroom were horribly firm, where you could not get comfortable and egg crates or extra pillows aren't available.  The food was ok, similar to Carnival.

nothing special by pennsylvania

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The ship was very and the crew was excellent, but there were a few things that I was not impressed with. I have cruised with Royal Caribbean three times before and I don't think that this cruise measured up to the previous three. For one thing the Lido deck cafeteria closed for three (3) hours in the afternoon especially after coming back from off ship excursions. Another thing was that the "tenor" of the ship was not as good as my previous cruises.

Our best cruise yet! by njwags

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have to start with a negative.  The port at Galveston is a big mess with disembarkation of the ship which just arrived and then passengers arriving for the next.  They do not let you go park upon arrival.  You must wait in a LONG line in order to drop off one passenger and all your luggage.  So I was standing along the curb trying to get a porter (in 90 + degree heat) and his reply was you will just have to wait.  We are working on taking care of the passengers arriving.  This is around 11:30 a.m. and we were told boarding began at 11 a.m.  After my husband got to the parking lot and boarded the shuttle bus, they had to again wait in the LONG time of cars trying to get to the terminal.  Just very unorganized.  Disembarkation wasn't much better.  My advice is to wait in the line to get a porter because you then go immediately to customs.  The people taking care of their own luggage had to wait in a very LONG time in order to get through customs.  I again had to wait on the curb for like 30 minutes or more with all our luggage for my husband to go get the car and return!  Just seemed like something could be done differently.  And yes, the arriving passengers for embarkation were having the same problems I did the week before.

Now for the cruise (8/23 to 8/30).  It was just great.  We really enjoyed our room (9229).  Our room steward did his job.  We did not see much of him, but if we had a concern he addressed it, in his own time.  Room was interior and very adequate.  We did not even use all the storage provided.  We used the "My Time" dining and did make a reservation time for each night before we left.  We were always seated immediately.  I think those who either did not make a reservation or had a different reservation time each night found out they had to wait for a table to become available.  We had a 6:15 reservation, but were told the table was ours so free feel to come at anytime.  We came as early as 5:45 and one night at 6:30.  It usually took us close to 1 1/2 hours to eat, which afforded us time to relax before the 8:30 p.m. entertainment show for the evening.  Our waiters were fabulous.  They brought is everything we wanted and option came out with an extra appetizer, extra entrée and extra dessert each evening because they wanted us to try something featured for just that night.

Entertainment was good.  The ice show in studio B was amazing.  The Quest was as crazy as ever.  We did not participate in as many games as normal, but it did seem like others were having fun.  Casino was adequate for that size ship.  Slot machines were up-to-date.  Table games were always full.

We booked 2 excursions through Royal Caribbean.  Grand Cayman we went to the Turtle Farm and enjoyed some fantastic snorkeling (equipment provided).  Oh, BTW you can check out towels from the ship so don't bother bringing along big beach towels in your luggage.  In Jamaica we did the Green Gotto cave and the Dunn River Falls.  In Cozumel we enjoyed a dune buggy tour all around the island which we booked through Cruises Only.  Just fantastic.  Included some beach time, guided snorkeling tour, lunch, and stop of some small ruins.  The whole tour was 5 hours and just wonderful.

A little wordy, but I hope some of my information will help you.

Pretty good by vetb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The cruise was the smoothest we ever had; of course the weather was ideal.

We had never sailed on such a large ship, but everything went well especially the time it took to debark.  We were somewhat disappointed in the baked Alaska served on the last night.  It just tasted like a bunch of whipped cream.  Our room was nicely maintained by the maid.
