Great itinerary by sandyjaffe

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Northern Europe

What an interesting itinerary to an area of the world I never thought I would go to.

Royal Caribbean made it easy and enjoyable to visit all the exciting ports of call.

Everything was very good, except the food that could be better. The personal in the dinning room were excellent. The staff who was in charge of our cabin was very good too.

cruise 6/6 to Canary Islands by bendork

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

I enjoy the gym, the healthful food options, and the enrichment lectures.  Nice as Diamond member to get free drinks between 5-8:30 pm.

lectures are important.  they are a major draw for me on a cruise.  would never take a repositioning cruise if no lectures.

noticed your cutting back on some things, eg chocolate on pillows.  that's not crucial.  the things above are.

would recommend the cruise to others.

not great by hennyr

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

The Navigator of the Seas needs to improve in many ways if it wants to compete with other ships/lines.

The hallway carpets by the cabins (at least on Deck 6, where we stayed), are very stained.  The cabin on the other hand, was very nice, clean and spacious.

Food is a major, disappointing area.  The buffet at the Windjammer is the same food, day in, day out.

Service in the dining room is spotty...sometimes waiting for a tea can take a long time.  The dinner and lunch menus were o.k....nothing special.

It wasn't until we complained about the slow service, that things improved, at least for us.  We still heard many people complaining.

On this cruise, everything in the shops was taxed 20%, even though we were in international waters.  When we questioned them, we really didn't get a complete answer.  They said it was because the ship didn't go to a non-EU country.

Prices of goods and drinks were outrageous.

Smoking in the casino is an issue as well; the entire casino will smell of smoke, and you have to go through it to get to some other areas.  Very annoying.

Our previous cruise on the Independence of the Seas was not fantastic, but compared to the Navigator, it turned out to be a lot better.

The Navigator is just not a great ship at all.

We were mostly in cold weather, and even though it has several swimming pools, not one has a (retractable) cover on it, so people were inside most of the time, which made it very crowded.  Bar service or even finding a seat somewhere became a challenge.

The daily schedule, just like the food, was always the same.  Many activities would cost you additional $$.

One very annoying thing, to try to get more $$ from the passengers, was the sale for the extra dining packages.  You couldn't get away from it...even in the dining room, they would come and try to sell you the packages.  Also, in the dining room, if you wanted better food, it would cost you.....you want a better steak...pay up...you want a lobster tail...sure...it'll cost you.

Mexican food would cost you $25.00 p.p.  You want sushi....same thing.

RCL gets people on board with lower up front prices, but one there...watch out.

Chocolate on your pillow at night...forget it.

I could go on...but you get the picture....

9 Night Atlantic Europe by kevingilman19

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

My favorite stop for the cruise would have been LeHavre, France and a tour of the D-Day beaches but this was cancelled because of a French dock workers strike. As a result, I feel like we spent too many days at sea. Ship provided plenty to do but still too many days at sea for me. I saw little too do in Gijon, Spain - a different stop might be considered in the future. Other stops were nice.

Just Average by Cruiselovers375

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

The ship was fine, just extremely disorganized, particularly in the excursions department.  At the first port of call, getting off the ship to get to our excursions was absolutely chaotic.  It improved on subsequent  ports, but was never what I would call good.  The food in the dining room was average at best.  We have been on other Royal Caribbean ships where the selection and quality of the food was much superior to this one.  Cleanliness, friendliness, and courtesy of service was very good,, but were not enough to pull the overall experience up to above average.

The stops were really interesting and I wish we had had a few more hours in port.

The cruise itself was great.  I loved the zumba, trivia and bridge program.

MORE PLUMBING PROBLEMS by math35427453

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

This was the third Navigator cruise for us and the third time we've had plumbing problems.   Getting up for several nights in a row and having to find a public bathroom is embarrassing; and that was just this cruise.  Another time when we were on Navigator, a serious plumbing backup forced the evacuation of all cabins forward of us.  We were stuck with the bad odors in the gangway for several days..  We are Crown & Anchor members and long time RC cruisers AND we are seniors. This is an unacceptable situation for us.  As we plan our next cruise, our family/friends and us will keep this in mind.

Good and not so good by jayre

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

We found the ship handicapped unfriendly. We travelled with a lightweight wheelchair but the differing heights of the doorway thresholds and floor levels proved difficult to negotiate. Worst situation was when the chair would not pass over one of the higher thresholds and stopped dead resulting in my wife tumbling out of the chair onto the floor. Following that we had use of a "standard wheelchair" care of the cruise line but that too had difficulty over some of the thresholds. The outcome was that following her tumble my wife's knee became swollen over the following days which limited her movement significantly during the cruise, the x-rays carried out by the ship's doctor revealed stretched/torn ligaments.

The evening entertainment was very good and gave a varied content. Meals were of the usual good standard.

Organised trips we found fine other than in Spain (Vigo) where, due to the lack of knowledge and participation of the guide we learned little of the area.

Organisation on board was, at times poor, the first morning's breakfast in the dining room being a prime example where we waited over an hour for our breakfast which on arrival was wrong.

The overall immigration procedure which was to take four hours went into two days !!!

Would we take this cruise again, yes, so the plusses outweighed the negatives though there are lessons to be learned.

Transatlantic Cruise by lyndanto

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

Great way to travel to England, with good stops along the way.  Food was great; entertainment was great; stateroom and decor were great.  Not a regular, recurring trip so logistics weren't always well organized, especially the mandatory passport check before entering Southhampton.  Biggest place for improvement would be to have some decent lectures on sea days;  perhaps a naturalist to talk about the sealife in the Atlantic; the history of places we passed; or the geological and climate events that characterize the land formations.  We also had wished there was a place for outdoor dining on nice days.  The cruise definitely caters to the gamblers and art auctions (and we were not interested in either of these two things).

Review of Cruise to Southsanpton by alanP2610

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

The destination was the important thing for us as we sailed directly to the UK from Florida.

The food was excellent  and the service superb.

We liked 11 out of the 13 shows we saw which is a good percentage.

Great trip by SeniorCruiser6

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Transatlantic

The May 8 transatlantic trip on Navigator of the Seas was thoroughly enjoyable. Our balcony stateroom was comfortable, with ample storage for two women who over-pack on a regular basis.

Our Room Steward, Alesia, was always smiling, cheerful, and helpful.  The condition of our room was impeccable.

In the Dining Room, Bernadeth and Charlie provided attentive service and plenty of personality to entertain us.  The food was mostly mediocre, but Bernadeth was spot-on with her recommendations.

The Cruise Director, Jeffrey, was fantastic.  He was funny and personable, without being over-done as so many cruise directors tend to be.  He got a lot of undeserved criticism for challenges encountered during the trip.  The participation for several events (trivia for instance!) was so much larger than expected the events had to be moved to larger rooms.  Since the Compass had already been printed, many people were upset that the information on the Compass was incorrect.  They would have been equally upset if the  room had not been changed, and they were unable to get in to participate because of overcrowding.

The crossing itself was as smooth as a Caribbean cruise!  We were extremely fortunate to have perfect weather most of the time.  That changed once we got to Europe, but nothing to be done about that - it's spring.

Navigator of the Seas survey by edfwright2

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

My wife fell and fracture her arm and shoulder before we even pulled into San Juan. She was treated with only a couple days pain pills and a sling. She spent the whole trip in her room. No one from the cruise ship called or visited to see how she was doing or if there was anything they could do to help her. The only person who helped and showed concern was the stateroom person. He provided ice all the time day and night for her srm and shoulder and gave her an extra pillow and blanket for her to use (she slept -when she could- sitting on the couch with her legs and feet resting on a chair.  In the room I was in with my cousin (my wife shared a room with our niece) we were directly over a pub and the noise and music was very loud until about 1:00 AM.  We were also told we would get first off with thew help of a wheelchair, none of this happened. Their was a blonde (english) who was at the exit lounge were we were told to meet for departinng and we explained what was told to us, she was extremely RUDE and obnoxious. She kept telling us it was not her fault my wife fell. This whole trip was a nightmare.

What a wonderful vacation! by Debcuiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Navigator of the Seas is a beautiful ship, very easy to get around.  Many pools and hot tubs to choose from.  The huge hot tub in the spa is the best.  Great space size for the entertainment.  Be sure to get the complimentary tickets onboard for the ice dance show and get there early less space than the other entertainment.  This was an excellent itinerary.   There's a complimentary trolley in San Juan by the port that takes you to all the forts - makes the rounds every 20 minutes.  Highly recommend the Rain Forest excursion in St. Kitts - tours the island and goes to the botanical garden and ends with a great hike in the rain forest.  Highly recommend the Ultimate Beach and Snorkel Speed Boat tour in St. Maarten.

Navigator of the Seas Eastern Carribean by cpald

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The ship was very clean.  The wait staff was excellent.  The Windjammer Buffet food was repetitious, every day the same items were offered. On other cruise lines, different cuisines were offered on a daily basis.  The nightly entertainment was enjoyable, but other than that, very little was offered during sea days.

Fantastic fun filled cruise! by bybyamericanpie

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

We brought 4 other family members and had an amazing time.  The virtual balcony interior room on Navigator of the Seas was exceptional. I loved hearing the ocean at night as I drifted off to sleep.  Seeing the ports and the ocean was pretty cool too. There was so much storage in our room that we had empty drawers, even though we over packed. The food was delicious and plentiful. Our dining room wait staff did an excellent job. I was so pleasantly surprised with the entertainment. It was such fun and so varied that there was something for everyone.  The islands we visited were breathtakingly beautiful.  We took the plantation and beach tour on St. Kitts through Royal. It was very well organized and we really enjoyed it.  The rum punch at the end was worth every penny! We loved San Juan and want to return for a longer visit. St. Martin was amazing too. We booked a private tour for 6 through Bernard's Tours and Juliette showed us the island. She's the best!  Stop at Sarafina's pasteries on the French side. You will not regret it.  This cruise exceeded my expectations in every way.Love
