Typically, its the best and thoroughly needed and the service is flawless. This time was a bit different. The services were not as polite, a bit sneaky on the charges and greedy. This is the first time I felt like a mere number.
Navigator of the Seas Cruise Review to Caribbean - Southern
I think I've said everything in my comments previously. I recommend everyone should try cruising at least once. There were a few things that seemed a bit off this time and I typically recommend Royal Caribbean as I've no reason to recommend any other lines being that all of my previous cruises were almost flawless but that was before this cruise. I'd still recommend RC but this experience sort of makes me want to at least explore other lines. Overall, I had a wonderful time and I'd do it again.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
It was easier than expected. With exception of one bag missing for 2 days.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
This is the first time I did not attend the dining room. Buffets were ok but it wasn't as much variety as I was use to on previous royal Caribbean cruises
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Musicians, performers and DJs were excellent and actually better than the other cruises I've attended.
Children's Programs
I have no children.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The room steward was there often asking could he clean the room when he just cleaned the room literally 4 hours ago. Then there were times when we needed him for towels etc.......it was a process to find but eventually he'd show up. I didn't realize why he wanted to come to clean the room so often until I looked at my charges one day and through querying the information personnel realize that everytime he cleaned the room there was a $14.95 gratuity charge.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The ship was clean for the most part but at time in the evening, myself and girlfriend would go to the deck with giant movie screen and someone left a plate out and the when blew the plate and hit her on the arm causing a big bruise. The day prior a plate almost hit me in the face. No biggie but it's clear this area is not attended as much with plates flying everywhere.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The size of my cabin was nice and comfortable. It's just the extra charges I could do without for every little thing that involved the cabin.
Ship tip
Attend as much as you can with all of the entertainment and eat as much as you as you like. Use all of the services but check your bill frequently as there are some thing you may be charged for and not realize it.
There were no instructions on exactly where to park and we almost gave up when we couldn't find the parking space near the dock. In Fort Lauderdale, they give instructions on where to park and a shuttle takes you to the ship. I guess I was use to this process, so that not entirely on the company. Once we called information, they gave us the address to the parking garage. The only other thing is the parking garage is very pricey knowing that we'll be gone for over a week and there is a big sign that says $22 a day and the garage is not responsible for anything that happens to your vehicle.
It was nice. Not many options here but it was still fun. I could have sworn the last time I was there they had beach massages but I didn't see that this time.
I believe this is where we did the land sailing. It was the best and the people running this business know what great customer service is. I really enjoyed the people and learning about the history and city here. I wanted to stay longer here.
It was a very nice port. We mostly wanted to buy souvenirs here. Some of the shop owners acted as if they didn't want to business with us but the place was beautiful and I enjoyed my stay here overall.
A little unorganized but over all a decent experience and we were able to leave and an acceptable rate of time. As I've said earlier, it's a bit different in Miami. It's more like an airport more than anything. I had to adjust to the change.
I have never been charged a room cleaning fee (or gratuity) to have the beds made, tidy up and fresh towels daily...on Royal, Carnival or Celebrity. That was sneaky. Anyone else had that too?
I know there is a daily gratuity charge that’s applied to the room. Are you saying that they charge more per cleaning? It’s never been that way on my past cruises.
