This cruise took us to Costa Maya and Cozumel with our nursing group. Had a great time with everyone, seeing the new places, trying new things and making new friends. This type of environment let people do a variety of things together or apart. It was a great way to spend the week and get to know new people and have great new experiences. We thoroughly enjoyed it.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Embarkation was quick with many of the cruise agents open to quickly organize your papers and check you in. It does make it easier if you have all your paperwork printed off and ready to hand to them.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We did not go to any of the specialty restaurants but the Windjammer casual buffet was good for lots of variety but it was very crowded at times and hard to find seats. The dining room experience was nice, our wait staff was wonderful and if I needed or wanted anything else to go with the prescribed entre they were able to procure it. The steak on the menu (not the filet) was not very good. The quality of that meat was disappointing,.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
We did a lot of the music activities such as trivia, karaoke, sing alongs, finish that line etc. We really enjoyed those and have fun participating in the games too.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
We enjoyed a few of the stage shows, some were better than others and I'm sure that changes with various sailings. We enjoyed the Beatles revue band, but the Big Band show was something we didn't much care for.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of our staff was friendly and courteous. Our room steward was ever on the ball with our room. The wait staff we had we kind and quick to take care of things. They also provided some dining room entertainment and we enjoyed that. We were able to provide some "I Love Nurses" shirts to our dining staff and they were able to wear them for us.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The layout and design of the ship was good. The only we didn't care for was the fact you had to walk through the casino where people are allowed to smoke to get to other areas on that particular floor. That we did not like.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
The bed was comfortable, it was great to be able to look out at the ocean so close to your room. It was actually very soothing. It was always kept clean and organized and our washclothes and glasses were replaced multiple times a day sometimes.
Ship tip
Be sure you really want a drink package. You can buy individual soda, mixed drinks etc. If you mostly drink coffee, tea, water, fruit punch and stuff like that the drink package really isn't worth it. The other think I would say is if you are using any type of Messaging app to keep up with a group or your family, get the wifi only package. It turned out to be worth the money to stay in touch and know what what happening with other members of our group.
This was a nice port though you have to walk quite a ways to get to it from the dock. Once you finally get out through the port you can get into the townlike area and that was where our tour guide was. We had an enjoyable Chacchoben Ruins tour with Mayan Tours.
This port was closer and we didn't have to walk as far off the pier to get into it. What I didn't care for was people accosting you to buy stuff constantly. I like to chose and go in stores and look not be haggled about these things. We had a Beach Bash excursion at the waterpark Playa Mia Grand Beach Resort and they did a good job of putting out drinks and a buffet for our group. I did find it hard to get into the water there because of all the rocks you have to get across. You definitely need pool shoes to be able to walk on them, but is was a great time.
We had a horrible time debarking and it took forever. This was mostly due to another cruise ship not parking in the dock correctly so we couldn't use all our exits to get people off. It was delayed, and confusing for everyone.
