A very nice cruise by MichaelW5

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Officers, staff and crew were excellent! Cuisine was very good except one night in Tuscano (dissapointing and room service orders were usually delivered cold). The ship having been re-modeled is very nice, a bit stuffy as far as decorations but overall, very tasteful. This is a great size ship, small enough to be intimate with other passengers but not too small to feel cramped.

a wonderful cruise by MaritaS

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The choice of ports was very good; the food was outstanding and the service was excellent; having made a lot of cruises, we have to say, that this was one of the best. Unfortunately they had to cancel two ports, which were the most important for me. They claimed it was because of the weather, which we have no influence in. The excursions were totally overpriced; we took it on ourselves, to get a private guide and a taxi, which was still much more reasonable than the ship's prices in a bus.

An Entirely Different Cruise! by DavidG22

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

We recently sailed from Beijing to Hong Kong on the Nautica. The cruise was so different from others we had been on; obviously, we had never sailed with Oceania before. But it had been highly recommended to us and when we saw the ad for this cruise, we jumped on it. And we were extremely happy that we did. Even though the itinerary had to be adjusted due to the earthquake in Japan, we loved the ports we were able to visit; the tours we took were excellent. However, we would have liked to do more but due to our physical capabilities (or lack thereof) and our ages (78 and 82), we could not handle several hours of walking stairs, climbing, or just standing. It would have been nice to have more tours available for people like us. The service on board was outstanding. It definitely went above and beyond expectations. And the food was fabulous! Every meal was a gourmet experience--beautiful presentation and delicious meals. The most outstanding part of the trip for us was the string quartet concerts held almost every day--no other line we have been on ever did that! We were very pleased with our cabin and the service provided there, too. The computer room provides excellent service and a very knowledgeable manager. Not having a photographer hounding us constantly was a big plus in your favor. Thank you! We will definitely be sailing with you again and we will definitely recommend you to our friends and family. Thanks for a wonderful trip.

A Truly Unique Cruising Experience" by SsterlingR

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

FIRST, THIS IS MY THIRD ATTEMPT TO COMPLETE YOUR SURVEY. WHY DON'T YOU ALLOW MORE TIME BEFORETHE SESSION EXPIRES?! WHEN YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR COMMENTS FACTUAL, IT TAKES TIME AND A LITTLE RESEARCH TO RESURRECT WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN. I DO NOT APPRECIATE HAVING TO GO THROUGH ALL OF THIS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do not have the time or inclination to reconstruct what I have said before. I am sorry but that is the way it is. Try and extend the time for completion to a reasonable length, please. I'm going on the Nautica for the 30 day African cruise in November. Try and get it right so I can provide my report at the end of my cruise...

For the older crowd by S3

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

The travel agent said that this ship had a younger crowd during the summer, even though Oceania's marketing brochures were filled with "wealthy older people" and there were young people on the cruise (45 and below), but the activities were mostly geared for retired people; shuffleboard, bingo, Big-O popint activities, beginning internet classes. the excurisions were not well organized, and if you were not on an excurision, there were no shuttle buses or other types of transportation provided.

Nice itinerary, old tired ship, service and food average by bradomo

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

Oceania will need to figure out how to supply simple, fine cuisine rather than the typical quick buffet type offerings on the ship. Also not safe food temperatures I think. Mayo and tarter sauce not refridgerated as far as I know. Some food items may be stored overnight and served the next day making fresh food impossible. Multiple Asian food nights for example. Asian food on all ships are nothing like properly prepared Asian food in major cities in the US. I could not eat anything. Lobster in the specialty and main dining smell funny and I heard many complaints. Food manager and Chefs were attentive but the problem is more difficult a fix. Cuisine needs to be rethought out and made smaller, fresher, better quality.

Not a cruise line I would use again or recommend by Kentraveler50

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

We recently returned from a cruise around Italy. We traveled with friends who made the arrangements using Oceania Cruise lines. The ship we traveled on is named Nautica. My wife and I have cruised with several different cruise lines on ten prior occasions. The Nautica is a small ship – 684 total passengers with a staff of 400. We came away feeling that the overall experience was at the bottom of our list. There were a few good points – a) The crew is well trained to be very friendly; b) Cabin and public spaces were kept very clean. c) There was an ample choice of shore excursions. d) The breakfast and lunch buffet always had a large assortment of food choices. Unfortunately, there were far more bad points – a) Any cabin below deck 8 is too small to be comfortably habitable. Below the 8th deck, the largest cabin is 216 square feet. Bathroom is so tiny it was difficult to shower. There was not enough proper space to put away clothing or store suitcases. b) Main dining room: Poor to fair. About five or six main course choices available at each meal – several were the same every night. c) Specialty dining rooms (2): Very nice. Problem is that reservations must be made well in advance of the cruise. Otherwise, tables are not available. d) Entertainment: poor to fair. A comedian performed twice. He was very ‘off color’ and not very funny. Entertainment director sang one night – just okay performance. A group of five very young, inexperienced people performed on all other nights. Would expect a better performance from high school students. e) Excursions: All guides apparently local to area. Many were very well versed and provided a lot of information. Some walked too quickly, not allowing for anyone to take in local sites. On most occasions, the bus windows were filthy. There was plenty of time for the driver to clean the windows while waiting for passengers to assemble and board. To summarize – I have no idea how much better Oceania’s other boats might be, or if the above negative points flow throughout their fleet. That being said, based on our experience I cannot recommend this cruise line, or at least not this particular boat.

We took this cruise for the itinerary and it did not disappoint. The weather was unbelievablely good. We enjoy Oceania for the destinations, food, service and ambiance. But if entertainment and large cabins are you thing it’s not for you.

Intimate ship, great food & service, interesting ports by Marbleman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

This was our second Oceania cruise and we enjoyed this smaller ship more than Marina.  Everyone was professional and the food was excellent as usual.  We especially enjoyed Professor Ruiz' historical overview of the Region.  We booked our next cruise on board and are looking forward to another great adventure.

John and Terry's review by johnlachin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Other (Asia/Africa/Middle East)

This was our second cruise with Oceania on the Nautica. It felt like visiting our second home. The ambiance and amenities are superb. We loved dining in the dining room and having the option for private dining for two when we wanted. We chose this cruise because of the stops in Greece, Turkey, Israel, Egypt, Jordan and Dubai, and the transit of the Suez canal. The excursions to Salalah and Muscat Oman were pleasant but underwhelming. We were disappointed not to have seen Jerusalem owing to terrorist activity but understand and appreciate the cruise's caution. Would go again tomorrow if we could.

Do not recommend this Oceania itinerary by jjimmele

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Nautica / Destination: Europe - Western Europe

We chose this cruise because we wanted to see Iceland and Greenland. The itinerary included Prince Christian Sound and 2 ports in Greenland plus 2 days in Reykjavik and 1 day in Akureyri, Iceland. However, the captain determined we could not go into the sound and re-routed the ship to Nuuk. So, instead of 7 days at sea, we had 10 days at sea and only 1 day in Reykjavik. We understand the captain's decision but feel Oceania should not have started the voyage promising this itinerary since it is rarely possible to enter the sound at this time of year. We were very disappointed with the number of days at sea and it made for a longer and more tedious journey. Giving passengers free drinks did not make up for the poor planning on the part of Oceania. We have cruised with Oceania 3 times previously and enjoyed all 3 trips!

Very clean & well maintained; outstanding stateroom staff; generally excellent ship staff; unremarkable but good food; inconsistent dining room service (function of the waiter); wonderful afternoon teas; very nice string quartet; good wine selection and administration.
