Never ever again will I go on an MSC cruise. Our entire party of 4 came down with covid. The dining room staff don't remind you to washy-washy! Limited hand washing stations for buffet.
Embarkation

Getting on and off the ship was the best part of the trip. Both were very easy and went smoothly.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining

I am not a picky eater. But the food selection in both the main dining room and the buffet left alot to be desired. The best meal was the surf and turf. When I'm eating a dry, tasteless rotisserie chicken leg in the main dining room at dinner, somethings not right.
The buffet choices were pizza, burgers, hot dogs, bread, cold cuts. The other selections were not appetizing to the eye. Green salad choices were minimal. Buffet desserts were mostly puddings, jello, and tiny squares of cakes. Fresh fruit choices were minimal and often unripe.
It's the only cruise where you don't worry about weight gain.
Plus, no paper menus. You had to scan the QR code to access the menu. And it you didn't bring your phone to dinner, we were lucky to get a printed menu after multiple requests.
Onboard Activities

Pools had plenty of loungers around them. Adult pools were small with no shallow ends, making it difficult to get in with old bones. Plus one depth, 6'5". Plus only one side had a bar to hold on to.

Service and Staff

Room steward was ok. Main dining room staff rude at times. Overall, staff were unsmiling, unfriendly. When we asked where something was, over 50% of the time we were given the wrong direction.
Ship Quality

Very very confusing layout. After 7 days we'd still get lost.
Cabin / Stateroom

Nothing to rave about. Showers extremely tight.
Ship tip
Everything is digital. Which is a pain because we could not get things to work.
Getting covid (a cold) happens anywhere. Washing your hands is up to you and what you’ve been taught as a child. You can enjoy life or hide in your basement and possibly still catch Covid (a cold). I’ve been on 3 MSC cruises (2 US and 1 in Europe) and going on a 4th for New Years 2023/2024. I have enjoyed every one of them. Vacation is a state of mind. You get what you mentally put into it.
Covid is in the air. The ship. This one or any can not give anyone Covid Washing hands is our responsibility. Just saying. Sorry you didn’t enjoy this beautiful ship
Sorry you were disappointed in your cruise. MSC can be very hit or miss. Our least favorite cruise by far was on MSC Seaside, but one of our favorite cruises was on MSC Preziosa.
Covid is unfortunately here to stay and likely to be present on any cruise.
Jeff Dunham's Walter springs to mind here, all the cruises I've done cater for all people from all walks of life, elderly & young alike, all diets, veggie, carnivores & the others, my 2 year old grandchild doesn't need to be told to wash their hands, Covid is here forever, take precautions or stay away from crowded situations.
It's so common now. They're really no way to completely avoid it unless you want to sit at home. We cruise with carnival and my sister tested positive after we got home. Not sure if I had it or not. I did have a scratchy throat for a day. Just read another cruiser who tested positive after sailing with royal Caribbean. Covid is unfortunately here to stay.
COVID is present on many ships, so you can get sick on any line. And I agree, you don't need a crew member to remind you to wash your hands. Take your well-being into your own disinfected hands.
If I want to know where something is I usually resort to asking an officer versus a ship crew member. They usually are more aware of the locations of things on the ship. In my experience.
My MSC cruise (Seaview) was my least favourite cruise but still way better than this. Food and entertainment really wasn’t for us but not 1 star. The staff can’t make people wash their hands it’s up to passengers to follow basic hygiene, and you could get covid from anywhere, it’s a risk you have to accept. Hope you are feeling better though.
