I was hesitant at first given some of the reviews I've watched or read. I'm overjoyed that I ignored those less than stellar opinions and tried it out for myself. The food, ship, entertainment, and overall value for money are near impossible to beat. Nothing I can say here might convince you to part with your hard-earned money, but for me, I booked my next cruise before I left the boat. For reference, this was my sixth cruise between three other cruise lines and my first (of many more) on MSC.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
The wait wasn't overly long and was quick once the procedure started.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
All of the food was fantastic in presentation and taste. The pizza was the best on the water and did not diappoint!
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Trivia, lounge, shows, and all of the entertainment onboard was very engaging and well-performed. There were no language barriers(for an American) with an impressively diverse passenger representation.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
Top notch!
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
You didn't have to ask for much of anything. There was an ample amount of people available to assist and every single one seemed happy to do so.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Pictures don't do it justice. The ship was just gorgeous.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Great size and beautiful furnishings. The bed was firm which is my preference, however it might be a bit more firm then preferred for some.
Ship tip
Stay towards the rear of the ship. The aft elevators were normally empty. It's not that much further to walk to avoid a minutes-long wait for a midship elevator.
Standard touristy stuff right off the boat but not to a fault. It was clean and everyone was friendly, but do venture out and tour the city. Th people are so glad to see you.
They ran out of snorkel equipment on their private island, sadly. The north beach had pristine waters, but you do have to walk over some incredibly uncomfortable rocks and shells to get in the water. The shuttle to return to the ship does not serve non-yacht club guests in anywhere near the capacity it should. Watched 5 or 6 Yacht club shuttles go by before the first "normal" shuttle came to get us.
Agree with Retired Ray. I have never been on a cruise or at a resort that was bad, maybe a couple of moments of slight dissatisfaction but nothing major. I think if you go into your vacation with the only expectation of having a good time, then more than likely you will. I have only been on one cruise (RC Navigator of the Seas) and I had the time of my life and from reading most reviews about MSC, I got a feeling it will be the same.
Opinions are like ………, everyone has one. Almost every cruise (or resort) I have been on, there is someone(s) with nothing good to say and I could not figure out why. Even the worst ‘never again’ cruise I was on still had a lot of pluses. Glad they bit the bullet and went on the cruise despite the negative reviewers and had a great time.
