Review summary

Our next cruise will probably be with another cruise line. This cruise left my family with several safety concerns. There was a lack of entertainment in the pool areas compared to other cruise lines.

Embarkation

2 out of 5
The cruise line should provide guests with large fans to help keep cool in the long lines waiting to get on the ship. The porter’s busted the bottom out of my brand new luggage loading it on the ship after being tipped to do their regular job. The station that was set up to provide guests with water was not maintained. The station ran out of water and paper cups littered the ground.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The buffet would close at times when they said they would have it open. The staff would not put out large cups for the guests at the beverage station. They placed small paper cups at the beverage station making guest to have to take multiple trips.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
They closed all the pools and jacuzzis bat 7:30 pm. They should have left these open until at least 10 or 11 pm. My kids enjoyed the ships water slides.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The only had one movie night throughout our trip. I have sail with other cruise ships that provided a movie on the large screen every night by the pool.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My kids are 8 years old and was bored with the activities that were provided on the ship. They said they wished the had a room that they could have played with VR headsets like the older kids.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
The room stewards provided great service. The service in the Central Park Restaurant was slow and not very attentive to certain guests.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship had to glasses on the deck level that were cracked. They ship had a nice design. Some areas in the buffet could have been kept cleaner.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We stayed in cabin # 13030. The cabin was nice. My only complaint was the way the couch / bunk bed is positioned, you lose access to half your closet. The stewards were great and kept our cabin tidy while we were away.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
We disembarked from this port to start our trip. There was a lack of refreshments and cool areas while standing in the long lines to get on the ship.

San Juan, Puerto Rico

1 out of 5
Guest were not allowed to exit the ship until 1 1/2 hours after the time we were supposed to get to San Juan. Disembarking was disastrous. I’m glad the ship did not have some type of emergency during this time, because it would not have been safe. As an Emergency Management Specialist, this in my opinion needs definite attention. The hallways were jam packed with guests because of the delay in disembarking. My family had a difficult time going to supper because there was no clear passageway. Our regular supper seating time was changed without any notice just for this port of call. No excursions were provided at this port of call. They should have just bypassed this port and stayed another day somewhere else. Total waste of time!

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

5 out of 5
My family loved our excursion in St. Thomas. We went snorkeling on the Castaway Girl #4 with Captain Corey. The rum punch on the trip was great too.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

4 out of 5
We did the sea lion excursion to Ocean World. This was another highlight to our trip. The gather of the different groups and escorting them to the appropriate buses could have been improved.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

4 out of 5
We loved the island. The gift shops were small and lacked a variety of souvenirs. The food trucks ran out of food and lacked condiments. The light show from the lighthouse was nice. The dance party on the beach was entertaining. The crew running the snorkeling excursion to the shipwreck were great. They made sure safety was of utmost concern and were very courteous to the guests.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
The disembarkation was a smooth transition.

Thanks for them review yes Im aware that M Sc need to work out a little more due time they will do it.. The port of call of San Juan maybe the port they send the ship was the one with a building and that one is bad as hell if they send it to the newers one without buildong, that Procedure could been more smooth

Agree, they need to extend hrs for buffet and pools and work on wifi (little flake). But after 2yrs.... I've seen enough movies, TV crap, the best entertainment is from an open deck looking out at other nature. Abd, year shows in the theater were good. But the lightning the one night was spectacular.

Fits with my experience of MSC

Thanks for the review. People either love or hate MSC. I had a great experience in January. Luckily there are many other cruise lines to choose from, so most people eventually find one they like.
