Review summary

It was my first cruise. Despite some of the let downs re entertainment. I did enjoy my time on the Ship. The service provided was exemplary.

Embarkation

Parking lot was full. Had to park several gates away but shuttle was provided.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffet was very good. Offered a variety. The complimentary dinner restaurant was disappointing. We gave it two tries and stuck to the buffet for Dinner. The complimentary breakfast restaurant was only slightly better. We tried it twice and they got our orders wrong each time. Again, we went back to the buffet. It was nice though to have breakfast and lunch in an actual restaurant but the buffet food - taste, options, and quality were 100% better than what the restaurants offered.

Onboard Activities

Very disappointing. A lot of misadvertisment. The BB and volleyball court was so small. Just about the size on an average bedroom. Can't take 10 people. The mini golf advertised was just a one hole removable mat that was just slightly bigger than a door mat. No joke. I wish I had taken a picture to include.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The live shows were lack luster. The comedian was good and so were the movies.

Service and Staff

OMG - These people were the most personable, hard working people. Always with a smile. They were unbelievable. They more than made up for my disappointment with the entertainment.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Though it was a brand new vessel, aot of effort was made to maintain the common areas and the cabins.

Cabin / Stateroom

I was very comfortable. The room was a good size. Lots of storage space in the rm and bathroom. The only complaint was the shower size. My 6'3 300lbs cabin mate had a hard time in the shower.

Was a bit disappointed with the boat excursion to see the coral reef. Visibility was poor due to the type of the glass at the bottom of the boat

San Juan, Puerto Rico

Beautiful. Loved the walking tour. The tour guide was really good.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Beautiful. Decided to just stroll around the local flea market. It was a short stop.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Wonderful stop. Did another walking tour. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I would have loved the dolphin, sea lion or stingray excursion but did not want to spend 4 hours in a water park after a 45 minute encounter with the dolphins or other mammals. Made no sense. They should have offered options that excluded the water park.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

The water was truly beautiful but that was it. There was only one volley ball net on the whole island and the adults were chased off after a while for a children activity. The temperature was too cold to enjoy the water and due to wind conditions the kayaking was canceled.

Disembarkation

Was organized but took too long to get off and no complimentary shuttles were available to take passengers that had to park at gates that were two miles away.. it was raining and cold. You either had to walk ot take a cab to the gate you parked at. That was an unnecessary expense considering you were paying $22 per day to park. The MSC staff at the gates were most unhelpful and unknowledgeable people. We asked a few how to locate the shuttle to the parking gates and each person had a different response. We gave up and walked the two miles or so from Gate C to G. It was a disappointing way to end a cruise.
