Review summary

Had a great time booked another MSC cruise for next May

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Warnemünde is where I joined this itinerary, the embarkation process took maybe 15 minutes. Excellent port, walking from lodging or train.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Variety of foods to satisfy your appetite throughout the cruise. Ate in the main dining room every evening with my table companions from New Zealand. Large selection of bottle wines, with promotional specials. I had continental breakfast room service most days to start my day.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
They had the normal on board activities including Bingo, trivia, dance lessons, and so on. The culinary competition was hilariously fun!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Shows were very good, especially when you consider the variety the small crew put on. Ship's crew entertainment night was well done.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Everyone was very kid and willing to help me. The excursion desk personnel should have access to more/better information on the ports of call.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It is an older ship so it does show some wear along with being a bit outdated. Everything was clean, especially the dining rooms.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Plenty of room in this cabin. Great views from the balcony without obstacles.

Ship tip

Do your own research on ports of call as they don't give a preview port lecture or put any in the daily newsletter.

Ports of call

Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany

5 out of 5
Excellent starting point. Easy walk to actual port from train station or lodging in town. Excellent restaurants, small friendly shops. All within easy walking distance.

Goteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden

5 out of 5
Beautiful town, took bus in. Drizzled the whole time, so I went from coffee shop to coffee shop. It was a wonderful way to spend the day meeting local folks.

Ijmuiden (Amsterdam), Netherlands

Took the bus into Harrlem which was a big center for the resistance during WWII. It was Sunday so much was closed. Did a Canal tour and toured the church.

Southampton (London), England

5 out of 5
Need to take transportation from the industrial port area. Huge in door shopping mall with food court at top of high street. Did a private walking tour, then had a pub lunch with excellent beer on tap.

La Coruna, Spain

5 out of 5
Visited their museum of art. Easy town to walk around in. Wonderful small coffee shops.

Lisbon, Portugal

5 out of 5
My favorite place! But be prepared to walk narrow streets and cobble stone streets. Went to the smallest restaurants and bars, tasting the fish and port wines.

Alicante, Spain

5 out of 5
Walked up to the large market hall where they had a pop up band playing in the back courtyard. Fun afternoon!

GENOA (PORTOFINO), ITALY

4 out of 5
This is where I disembarked. I spent an additional 5 days wandering the area, visiting beautiful churches and eating delicious foods. Hop on Hop off buses are best here!

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Very confusing disembarkation! No directions posted or given. No specific area for taxi pickup.
