Review summary

We had a great time! The sites were awesome. We primarily chose MSC because of the locations - I am not sure if we would choose MSC if other cruises offered a similar itinerary.

Embarkation

Lots of waiting around. Once we got on board, we were pushed towards a whole bunch of upgrades. We were upgraded because of our honeymoon, and I THOUGHT I had read online that we got a drink package. We went to the drink package booth, and the attendant was unable to find our name. His manager came over, snapped the papers out of his hand, and went to go look us up in the system. When he came back, he yelled at us asking if we had purchased a beverage plan. We had not, so he seemed super frustrated and ordered us to follow him. We followed him through the bar and he found another staff member. He told the staff member that we needed a drink plan - we didn't want a drink plan, we only wanted one if it was included in our package. We told them this, and he got even angrier. The new staff member asked "Do you need a drink plan?" and the manager snapped back "No, they don't want one and they didn't order one" before storming off. It left a very sour taste in our mouths to the start of our cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
They were all fine! However for a cruise I normally expect food all day, and so the half hour breaks at 11:30 pm and 4:30 pm were pretty inconvenient for us. The food was ok, I was expecting more Mediterranean and ethnic food since we were visiting those types of locations.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
There were no rock climbing walls. We actually found the activities lacking. Most cruises we have been on have activities going on throughout the day while you are on the ship, whereas on this boat the only activities were fitness activities which we didn't want to participate in. No trivia or anything?

Entertainment

3 out of 5
They were all fairly average. The shows seemed repetitive. Would've liked to see some magicians or comedians!

Ship tip

They upcharge for everything (ice cream, movies, etc) so be prepared to spend some extra cash.
