Review summary

MSC has a long way to go to compete in the USA. Most passengers were European so perhaps this is their target market. Many crew members speak very little English so the muster was very confusing. We were sent to different locations multiple times. So much could be done to streamline boarding but apparently they don’t want to incorporate knowledge from other cruise lines. What a shame. We are experienced cruisers and I can say with confidence that we will never cruise with MSC again, nor recommend them to our friends.

Main dining room was mediocre at best. The buffet was passable but so crowded that there was either no plates, no silverware, no coffee or no coffee cups.

Main theater shows were good. Shows like Houdini were mediocre and cost extra. Lots of girls on hula hoops if that’s your thing.

No storage. Awkward placement of closet with sofa too close. No storage in bathroom. Again, the signature of this ship; beautiful to look at but not functional in any way.

Meraviglia was a great cruise for us! Ship is so beautiful and has so many venues that we never had trouble enjoying our cruise. Now, I will say that the main dining room food was lacking, but not so bad we ever went hungry. Going again on the new Seascape in January and look forward to the new ship and having a great cruise.

I have been on many cruises with all of the major cruise lines and 2 on MSC. Although it is different than some of the others, I found the food to be the best of all of them (besides Disney) and definitely the most beautiful shops at sea. I'm going on another MSC cruise in Februaryso I obviously had a better experience than you. Maybe you could give them another try.

That was basically my experience too. So much potential but I think MSC just doesn't really care to be like other North American lines. I sailed soon after Covid so I want to try them again though.

My experience with MSC in the Meraviglia was the complete opposite of yours. Boarding was quick, the food, service & entertainment were equivalent to or better than Carnival and Royal Caribbean and the ship was the nicest I have been on. Please continue to discourage people from cruising with MSC so that I can continue to get extremely cheap solo rates and enjoy a great experience.
