We have cruised on Disney and Carnival, previously. We were not familiar with MSC and honestly didn't know what to expect. We were SO pleasantly surprised with everything about this cruise...from the beauty and cleanliness of the ship, to the quality of the food and the onboard entertainment. After the first couple days my husband commented that this was definitely more our speed than Carnival. If Disney was scored as a 100 and Carnival was a zero, then MSC would be about an 85. We would definitely cruise on MSC again, if we had the opportunity.
Embarkation

The system was easy. Was thankful to not be standing in a long line to go through the embarkation process. We have endured that on 2 other cruise lines.

All of the musicians that we saw or heard perform were wonderful! Loved also being able to see the abridged version of La Boheme one night on board. We thoroughly enjoyed the Cirque Du Soleil Sonor show. The violinist for the Sonor performance made the violin sing!

Ship was beautiful! The Swarovski stairs and stage were gorgeous! It was a very clean ship.
Cabin / Stateroom

Bed was SO comfortable. We slept very well. I was hesitant about having an inside cabin, but it was nice and dark and made for a great sleeping environment. The walls were a little thin...could hear neighbors at times, but it wasn't a big issue. After reading someone else's review on a website, I did bring my own shampoo/conditioner. I tried the shampoo that was provided. It was very drying. Was glad that I had brought my own to use the rest of the trip.
Ship tip
Take advantage of everything. Read the newsletter that is put in your room. There is more information there than on the app.
Did not do an excursion here. Took a taxi to visit the Catacombs of the Capuchins. Of all the ports we visited, this was probably my least favorite port. But glad to have been able to see it/
We visited Palma de Mallorca and did an excursion to Son Amar for a flamenco performance. I highly recommend that! We also visited Valencia. Was thankful to have bus service to the city center since the sights were so far away from port.
We did an excursion to Aix en Provence from this port. We really liked Provence and would love to re-visit someday. We didn't have enough time in port for the original excursion that I booked...seeing the highlights of Marseille and then a visit to Aix en Provence. So we just did the Provence tour.
