Review summary

I'd give them another star if it weren't for their customer service.  This was the first leg of a back to back cruise.  Our issues started before the cruise.  The US reps couldn't answer many of our questions regarding procedures and had no inclination to find out the answers. On board, the difficulties continued. For instance, we were supposed to receive tickets for drinks, which we were told would be in our cabin.  Not there.  At Guest Services they had never even heard of such a package.  After some discussion, they called the bar manager who recognized the package and said it would take a couple of hours to get it - we should come back later.  We did at the appointed time, nothing was there.  Call the bar manager again.  Someone came up 10 minutes later.  A complete waste of time and lack of service.  Otherwise, a great trip.  Excellent waiters and some good servers and bartenders.  Cabin stewards were very good.  Pasta and pizza excellent.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Buffet could be crowded. Pasta and pizza were excellent. You will never go hungry. Pastries and desserts were a delight and all of the food was very good. Loved the sauces.

Service and Staff

Our waiter Budi H. was outstanding. Also, got great service from most of the drink servers, especially Lipan S. and Poshybalo A. Great job by Cabin Steward Victor.

Cabin / Stateroom

Large cabin with a great view all the way forward, but no veranda. We actually preferred our smaller cabin with a veranda which was more midships on the second leg of this back to back trip. In rough seas, you felt it.

Ship tip

If you think the buffet will be crowded, try coming in from the back where there is often more seating available. Also, if you come in the front, don't necessarily stop there for food. Many of the items are repeated as you proceed to the rear and there may be less crowding.

Ports of call

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

Genoa, Italy

You can just about walk anywhere. This is a beautiful city that you don't hear much about.

Barcelona, Spain

We've been to Barcelona before. We walked into the city, but there is a port shuttle, as some might think it is a little far. You don't need the ship's shuttle.

Casablanca, Morocco

A trip to see the mosque is well worth it. Walk through the Medina and make sure you go to the far end.

Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Canary Islands

A visit to the market is a must. There is a superb military museum.

Funchal, Madeira

Take the cable car up and ride the toboggan down.
