Worst cruise ever. by smpadilla

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Euribia

Not sure if all MSC cruises are this poor. We will go back to cruising with Celebrity. Staying on 14 was a nightmare -- noise from above all night long, sounded like moving carts and furniture 24/7.

Changed my mind about cruising! by kimfancher

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Euribia

There is not one thing I would have changed about my cruise. I enjoyed all of it and the staff is so friendly and helpful. MSC made the trip at each port so easy and accommodating to get into the city center and back to the ship.

Wonderful Northern Europe Cruise by JohannaMB

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Euribia

Love this 7 day cruise with MSC. The cruise had great amenities and entertainment, great food options. We visited 5 key locations: London, Hamburg, Bruges, Amsterdam and Paris. Great excursions that allows us to learned a lot about their culture and enjoy the people and food. I highly recommended.

MSC Christmas Cruise by gjbiker17

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Euribia

Overall a nice Holiday Cruise, the ship was fully booked and in winter which limited some of the usage of outdoor space and thus the indoor public spaces were crowded. I think my of the venues were too small for the number of people, and therefore became overloaded and service had a hard time keeping up. Also, they way the itinerary worked out Hamburg was on a Sunday when it is essentially closed. I would suggest future winter cruises in Europe try to be at sea on Sundays, as much of the cities are closed.

Beautiful Ship by deborah1028

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Euribia

Very nice cruise. Staff overall very good. The ship has people boarding and disembarking at each port. A little annoying having to listen to life boat safety drills at each port. As with many European ports you will need a shuttle to get you out of the industrial dock,$$. Please note that if you do not get a drink package, the only drinks included are* breakfast-juice, coffee or hot tea. *lunch & dinner- bottled water, hot tea or coffee.

Pick another ship..... by WorldlyCouple

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Euribia

We have sailed MSC in an Aurea class suite few times. So very excited about the prospect of another front facing suite. And a new ship! Unfortunately they have diminished almost all the suite benefits and heavily push the Yacht Club. (our suite was more expensive than half the yacht club rooms) The only suite benefit: bottle of champagne and chocolate bar, access to the 19th floor rear of ship adult only sun deck, save $4 on room service fee, jacuzzi on balcony, priority embarkation and disembarkation (only on arrival, not on excursions or ports) and that is it. You pay for mini bar, laundry, etc. And many of these benefits are for all Aurea guests.... On this ship, the room was half the size of a similar class suite from last year (MSC Fantasia) the bathroom was a postage stamp, and hardly any closet space. The "couch" in the living room was only a bed, not even able to be a couch??? And there wasn't a single chair in the room other than the balcony. Laundry is expensive and no self serve on the ship ($42 for 25 pieces) Anytime dining was " show up and we will seat you when we feel like it" and no bar service! And the bars, what a mess. Pointer, never wait in line, bully up to the counter, demand service, and you will get it, while those waiting patiently will be ignored. Pool, never mind a lounger, towel parking is alive and well and not enforced. The arcade was a disaster; between a bowing attendant turning our game off half way and demanding the we are done (we had paid for an hour, this was 30 minutes in, and then not being able to restore the game, was a big downer and ruined the vibe, thus same bimbo unplugged a arcade game in the middle of the play, with no remorse, she is just stupid and foul. Then forget about winning on a claw machine, never going to happen (I own 2 of them, if I can't win, no one can!) The casino is smoke free, and they have a large playing area for the table games, not cramped, best thing they have done on an MSC cruise. But you will find limited drink service, and the coin pushers have casino credits that can only be used in slots.... weird. Also, you may want to have some Euro's for a few of the machines, they do not take your sign and sail. The shows are mediocre, presented in a column free auditorium that requires a reservation on their app. Their app is haphazard, works most of the time, same with the internet. The dining room staff was pleasant, but very slow and the menu selections are pretty weak, and the pasta, just say no.... The buffet is standard fare, doesn't change much daily, but a large selection of basic foods. The specialty (Asian and Mexican) were both great food and service. The pizza is a strong point, and the new charcoal pizza is a huge hit and tastes great. The ship itself is pretty, the promenade and shopping area is splendid. The LED ceiling is great, although they could do so much more with it. The ports on this cruise were great except for the "private island" which has a poor beach (bring reef shoes) and is poorly accommodated for the bars and buffet. Yacht club is furthest from the ship and has its own private bar and dining, cart service to and from; the aurea is next to it, but you have to walk to it (you would never be allowed to ride with the upper class yachtsmen!) and the buffet is on the other side of the beach, a good 10 minute walk or so. Also, the safari excursion is a complete rip off, I could write a book on this one, save you money. Nothing to see on the island. Get off, go to the beach, go back to the ship and eat, go to the pool. To recap, the ship is pretty, new and has an inexperienced staff and lousy management, there is no benefit to a suite that you do not get with the Aurea level, Bar service is poor at best, food is adequate, specialty restaurants and pay as you go gelato/pastries are worth the up charge) shows mediocre, internet and app weak, Port selection is pretty good, shore excursions expensive, (you are better off hiring a local guide, we did at all ports, no issues at all) All in all, you cannot get all of these countries as easily as you can on a cruise, yet I would recommend skipping this ship for a few years until they get their act together. Or, buy a cheap cabin with the Aurea package. If you want to splurge, definitely do the Yacht Club, that way you may get a life boat if the ship sinks....

First and last time on MSC! by xnathalie1996

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Euribia

We went to Norway in May 2024 with the brand new MSC Euribia ship. The locations and route to them were amazing. However, the first thing we noticed is that some employees, mainly at the cabin areas, were really friendly and helpful, while others did not even look at us. We did not feel very welcome when coming aboard. For some employees, it was more important to look at their phone than say 'Hi'. It was really nice that the suitcases were transported to our cabin so fastly; a really good embarkation process. The ship is very beautiful and well decorated. The foyer, aka Atrium, is quite small, but a nice area to be in. The Bamboo pool is also quite nice and there are multiple in- and outdoor hot tubs. We had the Easy Drink package, which we recommend to all. If you don't buy one of the drink packages, you'll pay immensely high prices for drinks, so the package is worth it. Noticeably, drinks taste way better at the back of the ship compared to the front. For instance, the Carousel lounge is lovely and we enjoyed the Big Band at sea several nights there. Staff was friendly and drinks were well made. You should be early to get a seat, because there are not enough seats for everyone interested in attending the show. Drinks at the outside pool were not that great. We worry about the seating in the high seasons. Theatre shows were very amateurish. The complimentary restaurants are not worth your time. The menu for each complimentary restaurant is similar on the same day. Even worse: The food looks served from the market place. It's not worth your time, you'd be better off going to the market place in the first place, where's there's more food to choose from, but is still quite mediocre. We had dinner at extra costs at the speciality restaurant The Grill two times, which was really nice and worth it. Great hospitality and great steak!! There was a Gala Night once, but as a consequence, breakfast was served only at the market place, which caused it to be way too crowded there. We missed more typical theme nights. We were really annoyed by the extra costs on this ship. The upselling on this ship is in your face: Every little thing you want to do, you have to pay for. For instance, when you want to go to the arcade hall, go bowling, eat ice cream, watch a movie on demand, you have to pay extra (1 hour of bowling is €45, redicilously expensive). Not to speak about the pushy photo service. If you say 'No thank you', you are asked why not. It is inappropriate. And they are everywhere, even on shore.... Next up are the excursions. Be warned by redicilously high prices, which are simply not worth it when booking on board. We paid €350 for an excursion (for 2 people), which was nothing special. The people at the excursion were really nice, but it was a simple kayak trip of 1,5 hour at the sight of the fjord, with nothing special to see (we had the same view from the ship). Really disappointing for that amount of money. We complained about the excursion to the excursion desk. At first, they took it really well and we would hear back from them about a solution. We also cancelled the next excursion due to the bad experience, without calcellation fee. Two days later, we hadn't heard anything and went back to them. They closed the ticket themselves and the solution was we wouldn't have to pay a cancellation fee for the other excursion. However, this wasn't discussed with us and it was already made clear before we did not have to pay a fee anyway. So how on earth is this a solution?! We obviously didn't agree, but they did not care. And be warned, we booked it on Monday, cancelled it on Tuesday, and they told us there's a 48h cancellation fee of 50%. We have never heard of something like this before and trust us, they make a lot of money when you book on board. Better take a look online and book yourself, which saves more than 50% of money and you'll have way more options and a better experience. (As an example, we booked an activity ourselves at the last port Flam: trainride, zipline, and a bike ride of 2 hours for only 290€ in total for 2 persons! If you'd booked the trainride on the ship it would have been 402€ for 2 people and you'd have waited in line when coming ashore. Be ashamed of yourself MSC!) The excursion desk manager Samantha did not even took the time to hear our story and explain it to us, even though we went there multiple times. All we heard were rules and that the ticket was closed, so they could not do anything for us. Talk about customer satisfaction... They do not care at all, just about your money. Some staff members at the security check were nice and funny, while others were very rude. When walking, by mistake, with a watch on through the scanner, a staff member rudely said we walked through with the watch on. We responded by saying he could have just asked to take it off beforehand, but he answered we were restricting him from doing his job and we should remember his name for making a complaint. So inappropriate.. Hence, we obviously did file a complaint about him. The people at the reception were kind and felt sorry for us. However, the damage was already done. Another staff member at the security was also rude when we accidentally forgot one of our cruise cards and rudely asked/screamed: "WHY?!?!". This issue was fastly solved by one of the other colleagues and she apologized for his behavior. We talked to the chief of security and the hotel manager about these incidents. They invited us themselves and took it very seriously. This was a very good thing, but unfortunately, the damage was already done. The hotel manager gifted us a bag with MSC goodies as a nice gesture, but you may understand that we were not really happy with that. A good effort, but we explained them this was the last time we'd ever go on an MSC cruise again, so it kind of missed the point (even though the intention was good). People from the Guest Service were nice and felt sorry for us, but again had to follow the MSC rules as they were told from the managers (the arrogance..). To conclude, MSC has a lot to learn regarding hospitality. Some staff members were nice and talkative, while others prefer to dodge you. Food at market place is fine, but avoid the complementary restaurants. Excursions are way too expensive. Ship is nice to look at, but it is all glamour without style. There aren't enough (free) activities to do on board for multiple sea days or when it's raining and the ship is not ready for full capacity. Staff at the cabin halls are kind and helpful. Our advice is to book a cruise with another agency. Seeing I've sailed with multiple lines, I know that on every line there is a seperate lounge in case you booked a suite etc. This is called the Yacht Club at MSC. At other lines, this means a deck, mostly the top one, for only those members, which is understandable. At MSC Euribia, the whole front of the ship is not accessible, unless you booked the most expensive option. I have never seen that before and it baffled me. There is no way you can see the front of the ship in real life because it has all been sealed off.... I would rather pay a couple of hundreds extra for the experience which you are promised, because this is disappointing in so many ways that the good won't outright the wrong. So in short from someone who sailed with Norwegian, Costa and Royal Caribean (which were all excellent experiences!), MSC clearly is missing the boat with such a big ship. It looks like this is a testing phase. I can't even imagine how I would feel if the ship was fully booked.... There is just not enough room/activities. To add a positive note, the route to Norway is really great. However, MSC itself.. God how I'd have wished I just drove there.. What a sad company. What was supposed to be a holiday turned out to be just one big disappointment and no one who could do something about it even cared.

Avoid This Cruise by jdoc1877

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: MSC Euribia

It was not a fun experience! We should have spent our money on something else. Three days before the cruise, we discovered they do not allow drones and will confiscate them. Since we were coming from Thailand and not going home first, I asked if we could store the drone on the ship with security and collect it when we disembarked. They would not allow this, so we had to spend $200 to ship it home. We also discovered that, unlike many other companies, they do not allow adults to bring limited alcohol on the ship, nor are you allowed to buy bottles of alcohol on the ship to drink in your room. The only way to get drinks in your room is to bring them in from the bar or order room service. The drinks and packages are outrageously priced. We wanted to purchase the drink package for my husband and me, but we were told we had to buy drink packages for everyone in the cabin. So my children who only drink water, milk, and Sprite, would be charged $400/kid when they didn’t need it. The drink packages would have cost us $3700!!!! In addition, when I wanted to order a specialty drink, an espresso martini, and pay the normal price, I was told I would be charged for each individual shot! The first three days on the ship were fine, but we quickly became bored. We met with the activities manager and expressed our displeasure with the engaging, fun activities, including activities for kids. She was supposed to follow up, but she never did. The activities never improved, and we spent the rest of the cruise either in our room or at the Sky Lounge playing Uno (which we had brought). There were very few activities for our kids. We found that the kid's lounges were closed often, and the teen's lounge would open at 3 pm on sea days. The ship needs to be better designed, and many areas become highly congested. In addition to the congestion, up to 10 photographers sometimes harass you in the main areas nightly. The boat was brand new and very clean. The staff was great, including our stew. He was very attentive and the best part of the boat. The beds and pillows were very comfy, but the ship had a slight rocking motion (not from the waves) back and forth the entire trip. The buffet food was okay, but after several days, it became repetitive. The drink service was slow, and sometimes, we finished our meal before we were ever greeted. The restaurants were terrible, so we tried to eat as much as possible off the boat. The boat was very cold, and many people wore winter jackets inside lounges and restaurants. Most of the ports were shipping yards, which were not pleasant to look at. Multiple times, we were told that we had to take a shuttle bus from the boat into the town. The information we received was very confusing. Sometimes, they said that we would be charged 14 euros/adult or 12 euros/child to take the shuttle bus, and sometimes, it was free. In Bilao, Spain, there were only two shuttle buses, and the line to get on was wrapped around the building, so we walked instead. Several times, we also opted to take an Uber instead of paying outrageous bus prices, and it waited for us as soon as we got off the boat. For our family of four, an Uber only costs 12 euros, depending on the port and where we were going. We will not be taking an MSC cruise again in the future because of this poor experience. I wish we had disembarked sooner.

Excellent Weekend away on MSC Euribia by Luv2cruzuk

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Euribia

We loved our 2 nights onboard the MSC Euribia. I think she is the best of the 'Meraviglia Class'. We enjoyed good food and thanks to the Premium Extra drinks package, we enjoyed lots of great drinks. The entertainment was excellent, especially the 17 Piece, Big Band Orchestra. If you are trying MSC for the first time. Please go with an open mind. It's a very international vibe onboard, with lots of nationalities. The vibe/entertainment is very high energy/Eurovision. I loved it and was sad to leave the ship. I would sail on MSC Euribia again in the future.

First and last time MSC ! by Surfpuppy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Euribia

My recent voyage on the MSC Euribia fell far short of expectations. While a cruise should be a time of relaxation and exploration. The most significant disruption was the unrelenting noise on Deck 14. A room change wasn't an option. This constant disturbance significantly detracted from the enjoyment of the entire cruise. Adding to the frustration was the lack of responsive service when encountering problems. Situations that should have been addressed promptly were met with apathy and a sense of being brushed aside. To make matters worse, upon reviewing my credit card statements after the cruise, I discovered unauthorized charges. Needless to say, this incident eroded any remaining trust I had in the MSC Cruises operation. While I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, the combination of these issues paints a disappointing picture. Based on this experience, I can confidently say that this will be my first and last cruise with MSC.
